I think he's buying all the food and drinks too, and others are bringing desserts...

Well, it may not be so bad, and the party is probably as much to help him as it is to thank everyone for their support. It might be OK...

If you mean between the GREs and that, it's definitely CISSP. GREs are basically like the SATs. I don't know what the CISSP is, but I'm sure it's harder than what I took today.

I ended up getting 720 on the math and 590 on the verbal. Hope the test went well for you (or goes well for you)

Actually, tomorrow in my case means tomorrow (Saturday). CISSP is Certified Info Systems Security Professional. Requires something like 7-10 years relevant experience to sit for - 6 hr exam. My brain already hurts. Going to stop studying soon, watch the game, and get a good night's sleep. I won't even know if I passed for six weeks (it's all manual - SECURITY!)

I never took GRE's so I'm assuming those are good scores else you wouldn't have posted them - so congrats.

The GREs: I remember how f***ing pissed I was when I took them. My goal was a 2200 overall (back then there were three sections graded on an 800 point scale - not sure about tdoay - a math, a verbal, and a logic section). The night before I took the test I got an 800 in the practice math, mostly because the math on the GRE is pretty much identical to the math on the SAT (since this is a general test, the test itself can't assume the taker has taken anythign past college algebra). Then, when I went in and took it live, I got like a 680 or something like that. So irritated.

There's still a writing section, but I won't get the results of that for a week or 2, I believe.

Vox, my scores were okay, but after looking at the bumped SAT scores thread, maybe I should have done a little better. I guess we can't all be geniuses like Barry Jive. Thanks, though.

So maybe I got lucky on those reading comprehension questions...

From what I hear, the writing section is pretty much useless and most schools don't even look at it.

Yeah, when I took it it had a "logic" section, which were just little puzzles that I found quite fun actually, like Mary, Beth, Sue, Ellen, Mike, Carl, Dave, and Bob go to the movies, and Mike doesn't like Sue and won't sit next to her, and the youngest person and the oldest person sat next to each other, and Sue is older than Ellen but not as old as Carl, so where did everybody sit kinds of questions. I got a 780 on that section when I took in 2002. They dropped it for the next academic year and put in the "writing" section instead.

We should have a "relocation pool." Like a "death pool," only you pick the next team (in any of the five major sports - NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, MLS) to relocate. I guess the problem is there are too many posters and not enough likely candidate teams.

Obviously, the next scheduled "relocation" is the New Jersey Nets, who will move to Brooklyn for the 2012-2013 season (if the NBA even exists by then...). So discounting them - and the Islanders, who might join them in Brooklyn - I figure any of the following might bolt from their current location at any moment:

Phoenix Coyotes
Nashville Predators
Atlanta Thrashers
Florida Panthers
Minnesota Vikings
San Diego Chargers
St. Louis Rams
Oakland Raiders
Jacksonville Jaguars
Buffalo Bills
Tampa Bay Rays (whose lease is apparently not as airtight as once thought)
Oakland Athletics
Sacramento Kings
New Orleans Hornets
Detroit Pistons (Came as something of a surprise to me... but not too much, considering Detroit's economic woes)
Memphis Grizzlies (whose lease holds them in Memphis until 2015 theoretically... but... promises, promises)

And there are probably some MLS teams that could be added to this list, if I knew more about that league.

According to this report, an investment group in Las Vegas has an unnamed team "under contract" to play in Las Vegas, provided an arena is built there. Only a matter of time, I would say.

I guess it could be a new thread, but wasn't sure it would draw enough interest for that.

putting the pool aside, relocation is interesting in itself- especially vegas as its the gambling capital and has many transplants like Florida, so will it work?

It is an interesting topic. I wonder how easy it will to get taxpayer subsidies for a new stadium or arena in this political environment?

it actually would be a good time to get one started if you're a city wanting a team as the property values are still low and still dropping like in Vegas
