Seib's punchline - natural enough in a piece scribbled for WSJ is gravid with implication:

Investors domestic & foreign invest in the US "operating system". The more supple, the more flexible, the more interactive that OS, the more likely they are to invest, and stay invested.

They're less likely to invest in an OS that goes all AOL on things like the status of babies born on US soil. That's not supple, that's not flexible, that's not interactive. That's closed system thinking. That's the past.

it literally sucks that i don't live across the street so i can actually not vote for this rich little douchebag!

the kid has done NOTHING with his life except hang out at clubs and live off of his family's money. well actually i think he did have one job... he was a freelance writer for the dirty.com.

While highly unlikely (almost sounds like the plot of No Way Out), I could see why the FBI would discuss this. After 9/11 they're just being careful, and they probably have teams brainstorming scenarios to plan for contingencies (no one ever thought the scenario in Tom Clancy's Debt of Honor would really happen). That being said, dumb to bring it up on the floor of the House.
