Specter's hits on Sestak (attendance, paying staffers too little) are awful.

When you have nothing, just run a positive campaign. Maybe whine that the other guy is being negative and not talking about the issues.

I'm sure you saw the poll that came out today showing Sestak at -2 against Toomey, Specter down 12. Not saying that will be the kill shot on Snarlin' Arlen, but it probably should be.

Nobody has any deep affection for the guy; his one rationale was he was more likely to hold the seat. If that's gone, he should be gone. The way the Ds hold that seat is by making the case against Toomey's extremism, tying him to Santorum and Bush. If Specter's in the race, it's inevitably a referendum on him.

Back when you were a youngin, we had a presidential election that didn't get resolved too quickly. Although at least with that, we knew it'd be either Bush or Gore as president, and we knew what specifically was the hold up in figuring it out.

One thing that's kind of funny is two brothers might run against each other for leader of Labour

And also that their likely opponent's name is Balls.

It's uncomfortable, but when you figure the average age of a GOP primary voter in Arizona is probably 70, it's more understandable. Us youths aren't the target audience here.

I get to go vote today for the second time in a month. Town council elections. Allowed to vote for up to four people, but only voting for the two people who've explicitly said they're for shared services.

How heavy the crown must be for Glenn... to know, with every fiber of his being, that he is right about everything, and that compromise, pragmatism, anything like that can never have any place in governance. Not to say he's ever completely wrong, but he is way too holier than though and lefty for me. Werthless, a committed economic conservative, embraces him, so i guess he has that going for him.

I always find it hilarious when people are surprised that others change their positions when it is rational to do so. I think Kagan is a solid pick for the country.
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

Perhaps not coincidentally, I think of Greenwald the same way I do about the ACLU: really self-righteous, often a pain in the ass, but invaluable for those very reasons. I'm damn glad someone out there is articulating and sticking to an utterly/irrationally principled position (which explains why the libertarian Werthless digs him, I'd guess).

Then again, I think he's far more right than wrong about Kagan. Granting that Obama and his team have more information than Greenwald, let alone shnooks like us, it still just bugs me that someone can go through decades of high profile public service and academic work without showing much if anything of who they are, and be rewarded for it with something as important as a Supreme Court seat. Replacing the likes of Roberts and Kagan with Miguel Estrada and Harold Koh would suggest a country with healthier politics. But I guess that's the problem: Estrada wasn't confirmed, and Koh couldn't be.

This has been true ever since Reagan and the Senate Dems fought over Robert Bork.

Brown handing in his resignation to the queen even as I speak. No details on the lib/Tory deal, although I presume it includes a referendum on alternate vote (not a pr system) and cabinet minister roles (curious to see who ends up chancellor). Perversely, what screwed any shot at pr was 40 labour mp's including john Reid and David blunket who didn't want a deal with the libdems. Both are know for their opposition to PR. fucking dinosaurs. They are presumably gambling on three years of libdem/con govt being so profoundly unpopular that they can jump right back inwith another monster majority. I can't think of anyone on this planet I hate more right at this minute.

That's it then. Unless I am very much mistaken, no shot at PR for at least another 10-12 years.

Fuck it. Maybe the libdems can at least get fixed term parliaments.

Useless shower of cunts.

Sestak doesn't have much of a chance as it is against Toomey, right? That would certainly seal his fate.
