It's probably all a matter of public record

Same thing happened when my wife got ticketed for going 5 mph over down here. Lots o' solicitations from driving schools too (take a class to not get points or whatevs).

According to NJ Law 1:38, I guess they can see that I was issued a ticket and get access to my personal information?

How is this legal? It's a violation of my privacy. Can just anybody look it up somewhere and find my name, address, driver's license #, license plate, etc... This is completely $#@! up. Is this legal in PA and NY as well?

This kind of stuff is all over the place. Get a mortgage, start getting re-fi notices. Buy a used car, get extended warranties offers (non-manufacturers).

I've seen work at home jobs for looking this stuff up.

Court proceedings are public.

Mrs. Vulture was a passenger in a minor car accident, and she received a half dozen letters from lawyers wanting to represent her. Thankfully, she was uninjured.

However, when I had a more serious accident (though again, thankfully no injuries, but with substantial damage to my car) I don't recall any letters from lawyers. I guess in Arkansas it's even easier to access those records than in NJ.

For as pleased as I am with myself that I went to bed early last night, am not hungover, and have put in 2 hours of work before tip off, a big part of me wishes I was hungover right now so I could feel appropriately miserable.

I thought I was out of the woods with my sleep schedule, but past night I got a full night's sleep from 7 to 2:30. So now I'm on that schedule and I'll have to get some caffeine to make it to the end of the night. Sounds like a good opportunity for a Red Bull and vodka. Or I could revive my college go-to, the Amp+vodka bomb.

Either way, this probably means I'm gonna get really drunk tonight.
no offense but you are everything that's wrong with America

Misspellings from Wheels Tupay are more jarring than from others due to the misspelling in his user name.

Am I a terrible parent because I zone out after 30 seconds when my fourteen year old recounts the entire plot of Full Metal Alchemist?

Jesus, I've had to use a fax machine more in the last 3 days for mortgage stuff than I did in the last 20 years combined. Who the hell uses a fax machine still? No wonder the mortgage and housing industry crashed.

So i live on the second floor, and would like some kind of lock for my window so that it can be open at least a little, without enough room for someone to fit in. Anyone have any recommendations?

depending on the style of window, you'll have mulitple methods. But a stick cut to size can usually be made to work. Just make sure you fasten it somehow so that when the window is lowered it doesn't just fall out.
