Where the heck is the New POLITICS Thread?

It's not so much a top quality superintendent isn't worth a 150k salary. It's the army of assistants superintendents, principals, vice principals, curriculum coordinators, and so on that also command big bucks. It's not quite fair to call this administrative bloat, but much of the work done by these people is simply compliance with other parts of the education bureaucracy. In my daughter's school, which is 1st-3rd grade with probably 600 kids there is a principal and two assistants.

Also, I want to reiterate--you aren't going to begin to address NJ's issues until you start going after the counties.

Meanwhile, Dems hold the largest advantages among basketball fans, both those who watch the NBA and the WNBA.

Ah good, you can seal up the 10 votes coming from the WNBA demo.

Drill, baby, drill. - Palin on Twitter

“Giving Big Oil more access to our nation’s waters is really a ‘kill, baby, kill policy’: it threatens to kill jobs, kill marine life and kill coastal economies that generate billions of dollars.”

Lautenberg has a different take

Barack Obama said we gon drill

Sarah Palin tweeted "Drill, baby, drill" a few minutes ago. I thought it was funny.

Frank Lautenberg is a crotchety old man, and said the decision is more like "Kill, baby, kill. I thought it was funny also.

Insofar as Palin is sort of a parody of a public figure, yes. But no it's a verified account.

Oh, I was confused by your post. I thought that was Palin's take on the proposal in the quote box.

That's because I edited the post, and then it made no sense. Probably because I'm a miserable drunk who can't make decisions without input from random people who I converse with on the Internet. Or something like that.

So, wait, you're drinking in order to help decide which grad school to go to, or have you already decided, but have trouble with commitment and are drinking so you can act on your decision?

I decided to have a few last night because I got a pay check for the first time in four months, and I went out to the liquor store. The creation of the thread was a product of the few drinks.

-Boxer, like many other senators, has seen her personal polling numbers decline. An independent Field Poll this month had her favorability at 38 percent, with 51 percent unfavorable. Her lesser-known potential GOP opponents have been making headway in the meantime, with former Rep. Tom Campbell (R-Calif.) actually showing a one-point lead on the incumbent in that Field Poll (he’s been within the margin in a few others). But the clincher was this quote from Boxer’s campaign manager after the Field Poll: “We always thought this was going to be a challenging race, and now it's clear this is going to be the toughest Boxer campaign yet.” MOVED FROM “LEAN DEMOCRATIC” TO “TOSS-UP.”

Barbara Boxer is so much fun to dislike.

Good Lord, I nearly just peed myself laughing. Actually I guess it is a really good thing early Americans and Canadians decided to colonize to the West or North America would have capsized and sunk into the Atlantic by now.
