Where the heck is the New POLITICS Thread?

Postby TenuredVulture » Mon Mar 29, 2010 12:44:04

Bailing out Citibank may make the government $7.5 billion. Sure, it really isn't all that much. But it sure beats losing a $100 billion.

Bah, I sometimes listen to Hannity and Beck during commercial breaks from sports radio. It's good for you - angries up the blood.

But still, it's not like this is confined to the right. You got East Fallowfield posting from the mailroom of the DNC.

A fellow from Philly was arrested for making a death threat against Eric Cantor

This is probably Sarah Palin and/or Glenn Beck's fault

No excuse, doesn't matter who is being threatened.

I think it'll be used to pay for the auto bailouts.

We know there are crazy people out there who will make threats against politicians or other people they disagree with politically. They will be out there no matter what the politics are, not matter what politicians do or say and no matter what messages are conveyed in the media.

This is why we should have zero tolerance for politicians and media members using violent language about people they oppose politically, suggesting that these people should be dealt with violently, or making excuses for crazy people who act violently because the targets were asking for it. Not doing these things won't make the violent behavior go away but encouragement can make them worse.

Is is customary to publish photos of people indicted for such goings on? I mean, they aren't yet convicted.

by JC Himself? :o I thought all that was mostly in the old testament, meted out by Sampson, Moses, etc

anyways I fully expect some caviling from the Fox network about the fact that the FBI goes & puts the kibosh on a Christian nutcase group at this particular time, given the very recent health-care-related semi-death-threating (which the linked article was very careful to point out was not at all related to the indicted militia group).

After all, they could've have busted one of the legions of muslim nutcase groups, but noooooo - that wouldn't have sent the requisite subtle shot across the bow, so to speak....

The real bank bailouts were the AIG bailout so AIG could settle its bad bets with the banks and then the carry trade covert bailout run by the Fed and Treasury in which the banks got free money and bought Treasury bills with it. Just a covert way of writing a check to the banks. We are a long way from getting back all the money spent to bail out the big banks. Much of the AIG money is never coming back. The auto money won't all come back either, but that is a pittance compared to what the banks got.
We now know that Amaro really is running the Phillies. He and Monty seem to have ignored the committee.

I don't get it; those eight look like solid, responsible citizens to me. I cannot believe people continue to hide behind Jesus Christ as their reason for being complete morons as if the rest of us don't see right through it.
