Gotcha. That does make sense, and for that matter I agree with them/you.

Thanks. As a Republican I wish she'd go away as she's still unqualified for national office.

Definitely not. There must have been an agreement.

My guess... Newsweek paid Runner's World some monies for the rights to use the pic and Palin's peeps shoulda read the Runner's World contract/agreement.

It strikes me its about context. When you pose for Runner's World its one thing but when its put on the cover of a news magazine its different. It seems to me as pretty much exactly the same issue as it being OK for Barack Obama to be allowed to use his middle name but no political opponent being allowed to refer to it.

Look. Palin's a joke but I think she's right about this. In any event she's a lightning rod for the Republican party which will likely cause some to spend less time going after actually viable candidates.

As I said, I agree the photo is a little strange in the Newsweek context. The reason I see this one as being on Palin is that this is clearly a deliberately posed political photograph. I looked at all the Runners' Week photos linked a few posts above. This one is unique. Taken indoors, not outdoors. Switches to tight shorts, tight top, the previous under-top garment gone, either wearing nylons or oiled her legs. But, most striking, posing leaning over a draped American flag, with an Army placard dangling in front of the window. This is a photo that Palin definitely wanted out there for political PR purposes. The other photos in the spread are very different in character. This one was a calculated statement. I think her camp is upset because they were trying to target somewhat different messages/images to different audiences and the use of this photo on the Newsweek cover scrambled that micromarketing, getting this photo out to a generally older, less outdoorsy niche than she wanted. Other than wearing sneakers, this photo has next to nothing to do with running, specifically, and is a fairly obvious effort to look hot.

BTW, next to the spread it is made clear that the photo belonged to the photographer and was sold to Newsweek by his agent, not by Rodale. Makes the terms and content of the photospread doubly strange.
We now know that Amaro really is running the Phillies. He and Monty seem to have ignored the committee.

That's probably part of it. But I also think it's one thing for cynical conservative men to prop this clown up for their own ideological gain and quite another for conservative women -- who are still women, trailing men professionally -- to do it.

Wow, Stupak is on Hardball just misrepresenting his amendment and Matthews laps it up. Amazing

And I don't care about Palin. If she somehow becomes president I'll weep and go to defcon 5000.

Joe Biden's motorcades/official transport vehicles have been in three separate crashes in the past week, including killing someone in DC.

Really.

I'm sure they were driving cautiously, and it's just an unlucky coincidence.

Google "motorcade accidents", dimwits. It's apparently something that happens more frequently than you'd guess, and has no apparent party bias.

"motorcade accident" yielded 1.1m hits.

"eat toenail" yielded 5.6m hits.

It happens more than you think.

Seriously though, 3 accidents in 1 week suggests that the drivers might need to review the safety procedures, since safety is a large reason to have a motorcade for the VP. And your suggestion that anyone is claiming a "party bias" is laughable. Whatever they're doing is not working, is not safe, and it obviously has nothing to do with party affiliation. You're an idiot to suggest otherwise. It would be a story if Cheney's drivers got into 3 accidents in one week. (People would have joked that Cheney was probably driving)

That's cause Cheney is a lot more interesting than Biden who's rather dull.

I'm watching Biden on the Daily Show.

I've met Joe Biden and spoken with him at length. (As I've probably mentioned, his dad and my grandfather were very close friends.) I know he's an intelligent guy. But it's almost dizzying the rate at which he misspeaks or simply says things not very well considered...

I do that. But I'm not the Vice President. However, I think I could handle the job.

Has anyone talking about these even looked at the incidents? One happened when two NYPD cars driving in advance of the motorcade hit a taxi. The cars that hit a pedestrian were being returned to a storage facility after being flown from Washington State. In the other a New Mexico Sheriff's vehicle was struck by a car that had driven around barricades.

So the grand total of one accident actually involved Biden's drivers, and in that case there was not even a motorcade taking place. Who was at fault for that one is questionable. But it's not a political question.

I read about them all, and I just thought it was weird. I wasn't going for it being a political thing or a zOMG the librul press is covering up that Joe Biden likes to drink and drive.

How many cars does he have attached to him, and how frequently do they get in accidents? It just seemed odd and mathematically amusing and worthy of note.

To be fair, it would be a story because Cheney shot the drivers.
