Were you at his show last night? Oh my god. Unprecedented hilarity.

There's a story I like to recount, one I read in a Jimi Hendrix biography. A big shot blues guitarist went to see him at a small club early in his career, and afterward he said that some guitarists were so good they made you want to play guitar yourself. Hendrix was so good he made you want to quit playing because you'd never be in the same universe.

Anyway, that's how Oswalt made me feel last night. Things that would ordinarily have been funny just weren't good enough to make me laugh; any jokes that crossed my mind just weren't even worth making. He killed it, and then when I was satisfied, he came out and did arguably his funniest bits in the encore. He did a set almost entirely made up of new material just a month after releasing a great CD. I was stunned.

yeah I was at the show. I had never heard or seen any of his stuff before and I was pretty surprised at how many times my eyes were tearing up with laughter. He seemed to keep getting better as the show went on.
As far as making up new material...he seems like the kind of guy who could take any story and just make it funny. Like maybe he's always funny even when he's not on stage. You know really talented.

ohh...so you are saying his CD has different material then?

His CD had some stuff: b-word fat, treadmill, the Ratatouille stuff, Sky Cake, Obama making time travel cheaper, the orgy story and the rat story. But a lot of stuff was brand new. "I want all the ham" and the ensuing time travel thing was completely new. The whole encore was new. Obviously, the give and take with the audience was unrehearsed--I was losing it when he was talking about the guy having a stroke. My favorite lines were things that weren't even jokes: the Jim Croce reference, the JLA reference, stuff like that. Even the stuff from the album had some new touches thrown in.

I really think he's the funniest comedian going right now. If you haven't heard Werewolves and Lollipops, his second album, I highly recommend it.

So alarm set for nine. Hit snooze once. Drive to McDonalds, BoA, 7-Eleven to get some sort of biscuit bfast sandwich, cash money, coffee and MegaMillions tickets so that I am awake and not hungover my 9:30 or so.

Also, I will be wearing a Phillies shirt and Phillies hat. And happy even if I am hungover. Because we won. Thank Chase.

While I was walking home last night, I saw a sanitation truck stop by a pair of those new solar-powered compactors/recyclers and the guy definitely emptied both of them into the same trash bin before just tossing it in the back of the trash truck and hauling off.

I spent like an hour yesterday cutting corrugated cardboard into 18 inch square pieces and tying them up for my stupid townships recycling plan. Like it can't be recycled otherwise? And they won't take plastic without a number on it. A lot of plastic bags don't have numbers on it..so I'm throwing a lot of plastic away here. Whatever...now Housh tells me its all going in a landfill anyway

That's discouraging, but I bet they're full of non-recyclable stuff anyway.

When I used to be a garbage man we threw away the recycling at least half time time cause people just throw trash in the recycling, and picking through to get the trash out isn't fun. And since I don't care about the environment anyway, it wasn't something I was going to do.
