I recently asked my friend’s little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up.

She said she wanted to be Prime Minister some day. Both of her parents, Labour supporters, were standing there, so I asked her, ‘If you were Prime Minister what would be the first thing you would do?’

She replied, ‘I’d give food and houses to all the homeless people.’

Her parents beamed.

‘Splendid: what a worthy goal.’ I told her ‘But you don’t have to wait until you’re Prime Minister to do that. You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my yard, and I’ll pay you £50.

Then I’ll take you over to the supermarket where that homeless fellow hangs out, and you can give him the £50 to use toward food and a new house.’

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked:

‘Why doesn’t the homeless man come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the £50 ?’

I said, ‘Welcome to the Conservative Party.’

Her parents still aren’t speaking to me.

what a clever parable. Do you imagine these little snippets to be cute, or instructive, or imaginative, or what exactly? Serious q, because it strikes me they may seldom be received in the spirit you intend them.

Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

Gates should have watched this:

[Gates] says if Crowley apologizes, he will do him the favor both of accepting it and educating "him about the history of racism in America." Since Harvard students pay $33,000 a year for the privilege of getting lectured by Henry Louis Gates, perhaps he sees this as a generous offer rather than another stupendously arrogant gesture.

LOL. The officer teaches a course at the police academy on racial profiling.

Gates in his own words, with excerpts from the police report.

Amusing to read, and/or triggering discussion. At least, for those whose opinions I care to read about.

Colbert commentary on it

Yes, journalist for the most part has died, and morphed into mind numbing entertainment.

Colbert isn't mind numbing... especially when you consider the Bushies invited him to speak at the press corps thing based on who/what they thought he was :o

George Norcross wants Corzine out of the race because he wants to win, and Corzine's response was apparently "No f*cking way"

Also he picked Loretta Weinberg, a 74 year old state senator from Bergen County to be his running mate. She's one of the real good people in state government. Ethics reformer, ran against and beat a slate from former Bergen County boss Joe Ferriero (under indictment) when she wouldn't just go along with his crap so he booted her off the line.

Is Corzine gonig Jim Bunning crazy?

I mean, there's definitely a certain screw loose when a guy spends much of his personal fortune run for political office. And in his first Senate campaign, he clearly spent well beyond the point of diminishing returns, and probably found a point at which additional campaign dollars were actually working against you.

I guess trolling is in the eye of the beholder. For instance, that's how I read your oft-posted, purportedly "amusing" video clips and cut-and-paste jobs.

While you might find their Ayn-Rand-for-the-overeducated quality clever, the next worthwhile "discussion" any of them generate will be the first, perhaps because the real goal is to get a rise out of others.

You have me way wrong, buddy, but I'll post fewer links if that's what you want. I pass the links along because I thought people enjoy reading them.

Obama's a big fan of Entourage. If that doesn't prove that he hates white people, nothing does.
