So I had been completely befuddled as to why my 768MB GeForce 9600 video card wasn't being recognized by my computer and it turns out I need to hook it up to my power supply. The card came with the appropriate cable to make the connection, but the power supply didn't have any outlets. So, I basically have this useless video card until I can upgrade my power supply.

On the plus side, the fan on the video card made a lot of noise and my computer is extremely quiet now that I have it out.

You might be able to get away with a Y-splitter for the power connectors, if your power supply is capable of powering the video card in addition to everything else. That's a very cheap part (probably can be had for about a buck online) compared to buying a new power supply.

I don't have any type of connections available on the power supply. The computer is an HP Pavilion Phoenix SE a6655f. I can't figure out which type it is since there wasn't any labeling. But I'll upgrade it in the next few months and it should be all good.

That's exacly the point of a Y-adapter. It takes one of the connectors that's currently being used (for the HD or DVD drive, for instance) and splits it so that it effectively becomes two connectors.

Oh, that makes sense. If you couldn't tell, I'm pretty clueless about this stuff. I haven't fiddled around with newer computers much. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll get one and see if it works.

smitty wrote:There's a place around the corner from me run by some nice Koreans. They make cheesesteaks but they aren't really Philly quality. They aren't bad though. They do make some good yaki soba.

There was a good place in Kent that imported Amaroso rolls somehow and they made very authentic cheese steaks. But they're gone now.

A guy told me there's a place in Seattle that makes good ones but I don't remember what the name of the place is. I should have written it down but it was at a Mariners game and I wasn't thinking. I know -- big help, right?

I actually make them myself and do OK if I can get the right kind of roll.

I don't know Mick -- lots of places claim to make Philly Cheese Steaks. But none really do around here. I think we need to derive east a few thousand miles.

Nice weather we've been having, huh? Think it will snow again this Sunday too?

Oh by the way, Burger Express in Federal Way makes some awesome burgers. They're an independent burger joint and make 'em the old fashioned way.

The good news is I have a trip back to Philly booked April 17-25...

Maybe we can try out one of your local cheesesteak options on opening day?

I've already learned to expect the unexpected with weather around here. I don't even know why the local news stations even bother to make predictions.

So, I finally tried hulu on my computer that's hooked up to my 52" hd set and it's awesome. Full screen at 480p looks better than our sd cable channels. If I could get NFL games over the Internet I'd drop cable.

My younger brother (age 22) proposed to his girlfriend today. They've been together since high school (aww....how cute), but have yet to live with each other, although they are already intent on setting a date.

I'm currently taking wagers on 1. how long this will last, 2. who's going to be the dick that tells them or my parents that I'm taking wagers on how long it will last.

Also, I can't seem to get this smirk off my face, no matter how hard I try. It's a dead give away for how ridiculous I think this all is.

Dodgeball was great...

Best line from the movie:

"The point is... Globo Gym is a beacon of human physical perfection. A benchmark in the fitness community. Your *gym*, is a skid-mark on the underpants of society." - White Goodman

ET--everyone enjoyed it. Lil' Vulture liked it a lot; she thought she wasn't going to like it.

Dodgeball--funny as hell. People who can't laugh at a movie like Dodgeball have no joy in their soul.

i've never seen one african american at my rita's until yesterday when i saw about 200 african americans outside that jawn. so i think that proves that african americans like water ice enough to eat it but not enough to pay for it.

So pretend I'm really drunk (I know, big stretch), and I want to set my DVR in DC to record Liverpool tomorrow on DirecTV. I'm logged into my DirecTV account. How the hell do you manage this? They advertise about it all college basketball game, but my retarded, drunk self can't figure it out.
