Work, though, is a different story. If I go for it right away and weird this girl out, that's one weirded out girl coming to see me every time they need to pick up some books. It's also five other assistants/interns in her department whispering about me. It would probably go beyond that; if it gets to the Visitor's Services girls, that would be a disaster. If it gets to my ex-girlfriend that I struck out with the new assistant (which it probably would), that would be muy embarrassing. Basically, failure here would be a pretty big deal, and probably ruin my chances of hitting on future museum employees. I'm going to work this, but I'm going to have to be subtle.

Bucky is right--you're way over thinking the 22-25 age difference thing. This friday, drinks after work. Monks.

2nd date--Caribou Cafe, Phillies game.

3rd date--Bernstein/Korngold, Philadelphia Orchestra (she works at the Art Museum, right?

Do not attempt to date girls at the same place you work. Unless you end up marrying the girl, NOTHING GOOD WILL COME OF IT.

Trust me. I know you generally don't, but trust me on this one.

Hey!

Are you a Pitt IS student/grad by chance?

Were you born and raised in the Burgh or decided to stay? After three visits, it's on my short list of places to look for jobs in.

Stayed. Interned @ UPMC and stayed on for a while before moving on to consulting. Looking to get back to Pittsburgh full time (no travel) soon. I'm originally from Lancaster County.

I can't imagine living anywhere else at this point, save for one of those cool cities in the Pacific NW.

Sports have taken over my life. I just told my friend I "verbaled" on an apartment.

You live in Philly. There are like 10 million chicks within 45 minutes of you. If you end up fooling around with this chick and it gets weird, you're ruined. Because not only will you have to worry about what she'll say to co-workers, you'll let that stress seep into other parts of your life. You'll have to quit your job, you'll probably have to move. And you'll know it wasn't worth it. Short of this girl being a supermodel with an IQ of 170, I'd highly advise you just forget it and move on. Its a huge ink pool in the city, don't dip your pen into the company well.

Done it twice now. Wizlette I met through work. Improbably, despite us being in a smaller workforce, it worked out just fine. The woman I saw previous to wizlette I also met through work in a much larger company. That one was a head fuck from start to finish, and it's hard to say whether working together made the situation worse or better. but as bad as it was, it didn't stop me from doing it again. One night stands, brief flings, that kinda thing, I don't see as too sensible in the work place because it runs counter to the whole one-night-stand deal. But if it was someone you were properly into, I wouldn't advise letting work stop you.

I feel like you are obligated to take work relationships more serious, same thing with family friends who you date. I feel a lot of people in those situations end up getting married? I dunno, I've never done it.

Vox and MrsVox -- met at worked, and except for a few months, worked together until we got engaged. Only one person at work knew, and he was Vox's roommate.

Maybe that's because people hesitate to get into those situations and only do so when they're really into someone, which tends to work out better, which could skewer the mean.

Portland seems to be the coolest city up here. They actually did some urban planning and they have public transportation and all of that god stuff.

Cost of living is pretty high up here though.

I tell myself that if I am still single and in 5 years I am moving to Portland. Absolutely gorgeous city. I love Seattle as well but it is a little too pricey and crowded for me, I believe. Would also like to check out some smaller cities like Eugene and Spokane.

Quote from a letter home sent to students at my daughter's high school:

This is a semi-casual dance. Girls can wear dresses, skirts or pants and boys will be fine in pants and a collard shirt.

They'd never lettuce dress like that in my day. They'd make us leaf and kale a cabbage to get home.
