Beat-down insinuates there were a number of aggressors, but it's not inherent in the term. I think the two are pretty much interchangeable.

I really hope when the renovate my office they move me away from the kitchen. I really don't know how I'm supposed to work listening to these damn women talk about the effing people here. They just said that one of the guys here looks like he's pregnant then identified him by his initials, like that would just keep it between them. Oh, good... now I'm finding out that someone I work with had a kid that was born a hermaphrodite. fantastic...
