10 mph speeding ticket ...34 in a 25...I was not speeding, but the officer claimed he used radar...so I was f'd....but I went to trial anyway....no lawyer...me, myself an I...I lost ...the original ticket was 80 some dollars, but the judge issued a $130 fine plus court costs...he basically penalized me for exercising my right to a trial...i don't think he liked the fact that I didn't have a lawyer......in the suburbs the judge and the prosecutor work together to form one amazing racket.....i learned a lot though...looking forward to doing it again...and not

I did this once in Hillsboro, NJ and when I went in to see the prosecutor. I told him look sir, I was speeding, I admit it, I'm not trying to get out of a ticket, I'll happily pay a fine but this is my first ticket and I was just hoping to avoid points, what can we work out. He agreed to change my ticket to Excessive Noise, which was $175 ticket and no points. I paid and walked.

Do you or anyone else have experience getting tickets in Brookhaven? I got one last May and I kept putting off my court date in hopes that the cop would just not show up. I have to go in early March and I can't put it off anymore. I blew a red light at 1:30 AM and the cop said he'd been following me for a while with his lights off (isn't that against the law?). He also claimed I failed to come to a complete stop when I made a right-hand turn at a red light (there was no "No turn on red" sign) and that I was speeding (not sure if I was or not, I'm usually pretty good about not speeding).

I won't have a lawyer, and my ticket is for something like $130. Any thoughts on what I should expect?

If the cop shows up you're probably screwed. What violation were you officially charged with? I was caught running a red light in KOP, PA in July 06 and the cop wrote a ticket for failure to obey a traffic signal. There was a fine but no points so I just paid it and called it a day.

I'll quote directly from the tickets:

"Def. drove his vehicle through a steady red signal."

"Speeding 58.4 MPH -- allowed 35 MPH"

He gave me a warning for not coming to a complete stop at the red light when I made the right turn.

I have no idea how I was going 58 in a 35. I rarely even go 10 MPH above.

Two days ago at work my index finger began to throb and have a slight pain. It was slightly red on top. Then yesterday it began to swell and pretty painful. Now today it is huge with swelling and numb. I didn't do anything to it that I noticed at the time as painful or anything that could have caused what is happening. The rest of my arm kind of tingles but nothing hurts any more. Everyone that has seen it has said that it looks like my knuckle got stung by a wasp or something, but I know that didn't happen.

What could it be? A spider bite? I have been typing mostly lefty, and that sucks. I can't even hold my beer with my right hand for fear of dropping it.

In all seriousness, I had a spider bite on my foot back in the fall, and it sounds like some of the same symptoms, minus the can't hold a beer part.

Yeah, this wasn't planned. It's not official, but two EPT's say positive. We were going to start trying again this summer. My son is only 11 mos

Irish twins! Well, not quite. Get your son potty trained well in advance of the new one's arrival.

If it's a spider bite you should be able to tell. There should be a place where it looks like the thing sunk his jaws into you (or whatever those creepy things use to bite you with).

Anyway, a great cure for a spider bite is to wet an aspirin and put it directly on the place where the bite is. You do that for a while. Then make a paste out of some baking soda and put it on the bite.

I know it works great if you do it pretty quickly after the bite occurs. It works OK later too. My wife has pretty bad reactions to spider bites and we've used this cure and it worked great. The first time it was on her calf and it swelled up pretty good before we looked up the aspirin/baking soda treatment in some book. Anyway it worked well. The second time we treated the bite pretty quickly after it happened and the thing never even swelled up at all.
