If it goes by ranking it shouldn't be. Or maybe it should? First, last? Who knows. I'll be sad if it's at 1.

longest lunch break ever?

You know - considering how rarely this happens - I should just "work from home" that day - or call in all the BS hours I've worked.
I'm pondering taking time off from work...haven't had a real vacation in a few years, i think a couple hours here or there should be ok, as long as I get the stufff done I have to get done...boss is out of town this week anyway

I'm thinking you're being a jaded negadelphian - it's about advertising and the Phillies have the sixth largest market (130), bigger than the Cubs (112).

Don't forget Chicago is split between the White Sox and the Cubs. Philly is a massive TV market (more eyes on TV per household than Chicago).

No, I'm not I don't think, i'm not talking about JUST Chicago, they were talking during the rox/d'backs broadcast about how it's possible that the cubs will have more fans in Arizona than the d'backs who havent' drawn well this year...the cubs 'nation' is almost as big as red sox and yankees...they have more national interest

There are 49 other states and a lot more cities than JUST Phialdlephia and Chicago, that's the point of using the word national/nationwide.

Cubs just have more fans nationwide, not just in chicago/philadlephia, look beyond that

The Cubs, along with the Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox, and probably Mets, are the "marquee" franchises with big nationwide fanbases. Cubs have lots of fans everywhere, and they dominate Chicago even more than the Yankees dominate NY.

I guess we'll see when the ratings come out. Even if the Cubs and Phils are draws, both are playing crap market teams - unless the Phils are playing San Diego - no way is Cubs+AZ market share larger than SD + Philly.

By that reasoning, Atlanta should have been huge during their runs, and I remember reading that the ratings for their past post-season games were dictated by their opponents more than themselves.

Your limiting your view to just those cities, I'm not sure why you can't get past it (and you grossly over estimate the fan base interest in San Diego)

Los Angeles has more cubs fans than phillies fans
So Does San Francisco
So Does Atlanta probably

I'm not sure what the hell you are saying about the braves, the braves (while advertised as americas team) were NEVER as popular as the cubs, red sox and yankees...case in point the cubs had the advantage (fan wise) in the cubs/braves series.

But the Cubs are the dominant team in the upper Midwest in terms of the size of their fanbase. Not as densely populated, but when you take into account the sheer geographic area they cover, it's pretty close. Not only that, but far-flung Chicagohans live all around the country and are fiercely and passionately loyal.

The Braves don't have nearly the same national following as the Cubs. Plus the Cubs have that lovable loser tag and the allure of Wrigley Field.

There's a strong possibility that more cubs fans show up in Arizona than D'back fans

I'm not limiting anything, your estimation of the Cubs fanbase is exaggerated. I don't argue that there are more cubs fans here and there, I'm arguing that they aren't this insurmountable or third in all of MLB force you suggest. If you were right, the Cubs should be at least third in team value, shouldn't they? They're fifth, 4 million ahead of the Phillies (who are in sixth). The Cubs and Atlanta are extremely similar in that both are teams for large portions of the country who have no baseball team thanks to cable TV.

You're last comment about the Braves tells me you're looking at this too anecdotally and specific to your region.
