Mets at Phillies, Game 1: 6/29/07

Postby BIGPHILLY » Fri Jun 29, 2007 16:51:45

It hurts when you bench weapon is Babe Nunez to pinch hit.

Is Carlos Ruiz hurt or do we just like watching Chicken Barajas do his thing?

Well, I was close. It's not my fault Helms and Barajas have to be the most predictable 1-2 punch the Phils have had in awhile...

Helms and Barajas are sort of like the body doubles, or understudies, for Bell and Lieberthal from the days of the classic Black Hole.

Also, I won't be starting tonight's game thread. That's a promise. In fact it's more likely than not that I'll end this season with a game thread record of 0-1.

Yeah, but the Phils never gave up. I'm not one for moral victories but this game had the makings of a 12-2 loss. They'll get this one right back in about 5 hours.

After watching Barajas' first 3 at bats you would think Manuel would have at least some idea to pinch hit Ruiz there.

Yes, I liked the effort here todayactually. Too bad Durbin couldn't hold it to just the three.

They shouldn't have walked Ledee.

That is the positive take, and I'll admit I was never really feeling this one as a win. If you'd asked me 90 minutes or so back whether this would end 12-2 or 6-5, I would have guessed 12-2.

I'm just a little worried about Cole tonight. He hasn't been Cole As We've Known Him--the badass winning machine--in about three weeks.
