I appreciate you putting that together. I've searched for game threads before, and it can be a tedious process.

Particularly when sometimes they're game threats or thrads. :)

I've done some insightful analysis on these game threads, and discovered the following highly useful nuggets of information.

Our ace so far this year is a tossup between wins (and threads started) leader ColeforPresident (4-2) and undefeated z ipper (2-0). 1 is also undefeated (1-0 appropriately). No other thread starters are undefeated. kenrosenthal is our Adam Eaton with his 0-4 record. Laexile is 2-1, making him one of very few folks with a winning record. Most people are at .500 or are 0-1. 17 different people have started game threads so far this year, with 11 of those starting at least 2, but only 4 (ColeforPresident, kenrosenthal, Laexile, and karn) starting at least 3.

When the thread starter uses a "verbose" description of the game, the Phils are a pathetic 4-10. I defined verbose as including the starting pitchers in the thread title. When only the date and teams are mentioned in the thread title, the Phillies are 10-8. When some sort of weird thread title is used that mentions very little about the game (mostly karn doing this), the Phils are 3-2.

When the previous day game thread starter started the thread for the next game, the Phils are 3-9.

When lineups were not included in the first post, or they were included in some sort of unintelligble fashion, the Phils are 1-2. You could also consider it 1-3 depending on how you view the Opening Day game thread. I said that one did include it since Stu edited it in, but he also started the thread a few months ahead of time.

I hope we can use this brilliant analysis to help turn the season around.

You know how we feel about starters and won-loss records
if anything, threads should be judged on who posted well enough to keep us in the game

Because I am a supernerd as TRT noted, I made an Access database for this analysis and I was able to fairly easily add this criteria. However, because there is a theoretical limit to even my nerdiness, I didn't go too far with it.

I added a criteria for defining a game as a "close loss" meaning that we lost by 2 runs or less. Adding this in makes ColeforPresident look even better, as both of his losses were close games. kenrosenthal, on the other hand, only has 1 close loss despite his 0-4 record. No other major insights came out in adding this additional brilliant level of statistical analysis.

Amazingly, I never played D&D.

Though I did play Everquest and I think I have a Firiona Vie action figure somewhere that came for free when you bought the Planes of Power expansion pack. I'll dig through my storage room and see if I can't find it for our next poker game. We have one this weekend at Duane's right? I may actually be able to make it...

Speaking of Duane, he also played Magic. Maybe you two can have a match.

I think Duane may be more nerdy than you however. He has a model of a Borg Cube and two tribbles.

EDIT: And he just informed he just bought a book titled: The Story of the Square Root of Negative One, An Imaginary Tale.
