If Hextall sits on his hands this trade deadline he deserves all criticism he will be getting.

Valtteri Filppula coming back to us, has a year left on his deal at a $5 mil cap hit. WTF

EDIT: Getting a 4th rounder in '17 and 7th rounder (conditional)

And I think they have to protect him in the expansion draft because he has a NTC. Not understanding this unless there are more moves coming

tampa possibly flipped streit to the pens

flyers retained 4.7% of streit's cap hit.

hextall was in homer's sauce cabinet today.

I'm confused. Did Tampa need to clear cap space for another deal? They traded a 4th, conditional 7th and the Finn for Streit who they turned into a 4th.

Hextall says losing Streit and adding Filppula makes them a better team this year for a playoff push.

None. I don't think he has any clue what he is doing and if you look at his tenure as a whole it's awful. He's put a product on the ice that is more boring than anything I've seen in 27+ years of watching the team.

He's not criticized in the media because of how popular he was as a player.

I feel like you can fill in the blanks with names from any of the last 20 trade deadlines. I was really hoping Hexy would be different.

They gain 5 million in cap space by dumping Filpulla next year, and have one extra player they can now protect for the expansion draft.

Not sure what Hextall is doing, maybe somehow he has come up with a way to make it so A Mac will be taken in the draft.

Bad deadline.

Two years ago, he got a Kings Ransom for Coburn/Kimmo, then drafted Provorov/Konecny. What great times.

Still think Hextall is fine. He's great at drafting and has been fine on trades, think he's gotten a pick back in almost every transaction he's made. With all those picks, we've found so much talent. It's all about patience and yes, the Flyers haven't been great, but they are in a much better position today than they were when he took over

What he's doing is trying to upgrade a lifeless offense. I think he found someone who's going to help, but the contract through next year confuses me and I wonder if he's anything more than a buyout candidate after this year is over. I legit believe they think they can go deep if Giroux gets hot or something. Meh.
