You have to admit, having a "President Gore" would be cool just on name alone. Sort of like a bad apocalyptic sci-fi B-movie... clad in leather and spiky armor, gruff voice bellowing "The streets will run red with blood, for I am President Gore! Ah ha haaa!"

Yesterday Bush was all "Whay don't you Democrats do what I say and cooperate? Get with the program and give the military their funding. Stop with this arbitrary deadline nonsense, it will only embolden our enemies. They will wait us out there, then bring their attacks here. Don't you want to be winners?
Then Pelosi was all like "Calm down!...Gosh! Aren't you even aware of what the American people want? They want us out of this war. Your tactics aren't even based on real-world scenarios. Why don't you listen once in a while and maybe you'll learn something. We're trying to cooperate here and work within the constitutional process"
Bush: Yeah I do that.
Pelosi: No you don't.
Bush: Yahuh
Pelosi: Nuh-uh
Bush: Yah-huh
Pelosi: Yah-huh
Bush: Nuh-Uh
Pelosi: I agree

Ok, got a question for some of you out there. I know this is more religion based, but, religion and politics seem to go hand and hand for some, so, I figured I'd throw it in here.

Bill Donohue wrote:"lucky that angry Christians don’t react the way extremist Muslims do when they’re offended—otherwise they may have more than their heads cut off. James Knowles, President and CEO of the Roger Smith Hotel (interestingly, he also calls himself Artist-in-Residence), should be especially grateful."

Bill was referring to naked chocolate Jesus sculpture. I have heard this kind of rhetoric before from some of the religious right wing when perceived negative actions are made against Christianity (like Cameron finding the tomb of Jesus). What I don't get is whether these people are for or against the way they perceive extremist Muslims act when they are "offended". This appears to be a threat, telling these people that they are lucky that Christians are not the barbarians that Muslims are (which is also an insult). But, it also shows that they act like they want to be. If you feel that Muslims are wrong for getting offended at all things Mohammad, then, how can you act like you are offended by all things Jesus.

It's like saying to a hot chick, "Man, rapists are horrible. You are sure lucky I am not a rapist right now, cause I got a hard on and I know how to use it."

Naked chocolate Jesus Sculpture would be a good name for a band.

Could you repeat the question please?

Well, my question to Billy and Jimmy would be "Why fuel what the artist whats... attention and controversy?" New motto... Just Say "Meh"

I'm not a big "money primary" guy, but there have been some interesting developments stemming from the release of first-quarter fundraising numbers.

--Obama delayed the release of his numbers because, apparently, they needed extra days to count the haul from house parties on the last day of the quarter. With that in, he's now claiming to have raised $25 million--about the same as Hillary Clinton. This reinforces my suspicion that if, as I've long held, the Democratic contest is going to come down to Hillary vs. Not-Hillary, Obama is the most viable Not-Hillary.

--McCain's evidently disappointing total has prompted him to revise his whole fundraising apparatus. He's now wholeheartedly embracing the big-donor strategy Bush used to beat him in 2000. Campaign finance reform? Nah, never heard of it.

It's not nice to say, but nothing McCain has done since about 2003 is going to serve his historical reputation very well.

--Not a money thing, but it's interesting to me that the Bush White House is praising Bill Richardson's trip to North Korea as head of a bipartisan delegation trying to bring home the remains of American soldiers killed during the Korean War. If Richardson somehow won the Democratic nomination--and I still think he'd be, by far, the strongest general-election candidate for the Dems--his Republican opponent inevitably will try to paint his negotiations with the world's bad guys as limp-wristed appeasement. Having the support of the Bushistas for this one could blunt that attack.

--Richardson also signed a bill legalizing medical marijuana. I'm telling you, this guy's the man...

--My longtime dark horse Republican contender, Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, has serious money problems. He raised only about $500,000 in the first quarter. Huckabee's path to the nomination--win over social conservatives with his religious background and blameless personal life while appealing to moderates by virtue of his non-hate-addled personality--is probably blocked by the actual or potential entrance of the Two Thompsons, Fred and Tommy, who can make the same case but are better able to raise money.

Huckabee's great sin? He raised taxes at a couple points in his ten (?) years as governor. Burn him! He's a witch!!

Huckabee has other sins that may alienate some conservatives--his position on immigration is more or less the same as Bush's. On the other hand, he's outstanding on the stump (if a bit long-winded in today's soundbite political world) and very good at the retail level.

Salon.com piece on Mike Huckabee (I'm not a fan)

Anyway, Romney raised a lot of money. He's still nowhere. MOney doesn't mean EVERYTHING.

WE WANT GOMER!!

Huckabee can't win, but he'd be a great 'better health' president

Richardson's interesting, but New Mexico? Scary place. His opponents will be claiming he was dropped off by a UFO.

Dajafi, so right about McCain - his version of Powell's failed Mephistophelian bargain?

I've met Gov. Huckabee, and seen lots of pictures of him. That is an especially unflattering one.

And that was one of his more sane arguments of the week since it didn't concern controversial politician, Rosie O'Donnell.
