Is it me, or are there like 10 times more voters for Republicans than Democrats?

I'd go along with that. I decided awhile ago that I'd vote for Obama over Bloomberg, and probably Edwards too.

The thing is that Obama will try to run a "post-partisan" campaign. Doing so, I think he'd steal Bloomberg's shtick. But who knows. I think my colleague's premise is that Bloomberg would run only to win--and precisely because he's an "ego-tripping billionaire."

Meanwhile, Paul, I'm riveted to your results page--and having trouble believing the good news will hold up. But with 2/3 of the precincts in, it looks pretty favorable... time to start drinking (because any excuse will do).

The Democrats don't count votes, they decide on a winner or something. It's weird and kills the chances of lower-tier candidates

The Republicans actually vote, the Democrats do a goofy caucus thing, and their votes go towards delegates, who then elect other delegates, or something like that.

Way more Democrats voted. Dean is on CNN saying 2x as many Dems turned out than Republicans. Shockingly, he likes the Democrats more than any of the Republicans.

I'm looking at CNN "entrance poll" results, and one shocker is that GOP women dig Huckabee by a wide margin, while the men are going for Romney.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

If Vox doesn't mind too much, we should do a New Hampshire game thread.

message from my fake Biden myspace:

i just saw you on TBN and wanted to let you know that i support you and will vote for you for president. we need someone who has faith in God and has good ideas for Iraq, I have a brother there with the army and there needs to be a clear plan for bringing them home. I trust that you have some good ideas. God Bless you and God's Will is first. He has a plan for you and for this country.

Among GOP voters, Ron Paul has a huge lead among those who are "angry" about the Bush administration.

And, for whatever reason, the Romney people think he's electable, and that's why they're voting him.

Memo to GOP primary voters: That's how the Democrats got such electable candidates like Dukakis and Kerry.

NBC is projecting Obama as the winner. Assuming this isn't the work of the guy who gave Gore Florida, it's lookin' good... the question is how the media will cover this. Crushing defeat for InevitaBillary, or slight margin of a few thousand Iowans?

On the other hand, it is pretty wild that those Iowans--white midwesterners--look like they're going for a black guy named "Barack Obama."

Giuliani is beating Paul again. :-D

And my least favorite potential president, Edwards, is dead. Not a terrible night.

Edit: CNN was lying. Giuliani is still getting killed.

what did he do?

Isn't Guliani just skipping the 'smaller' states and just gunning for the big cities and the coasts?

OK, now looking at the Dem entrance poll numbers--I'll keep this all in one post.

First, women do not seem to like Kucinich, he got 0% of their vote.

Obama is picking up large numbers of the independent caucus goers. Edwards picks up a bunch of them as well, but not Hillary.

Memo to Dems: Hillary isn't really electable.

On income, Clinton voters look a little like Huckabee voters.

Edwards is getting the "conservative" Dem caucus goers vote. That's the strangest part of these results so far.

Obama brings in new voters and the people who want "change". I prefer bills.

Obama is getting the urban vote, edwards suburban, and hillary rural. I have no idea what that means in Iowa (for instance, in Arkansas terms, I live in a city. But do they mean metropolitan area? Anyway, I don't think those terms translate well to major metro areas where most Americans live.

I really think the most racist parts of this country are ethnic areas of the northeast.

Watching 9ui11iani, I really do expect him to unhinge his jaw and eat small children or domestic animals--ferrets probably.

Did you guys see his last ad? Not sure I've laughed harder at anything all week.

He always focuses on Hillary's looks and dress, but he was like, look how the democratic party turned their back on this woman. 2/3rds of them didn't want her (and it was mentioned by Rachel Maddow that the same could be said about Edwards and Obama).
