I had no idea Texas was in a playoff race in the AL. Thought when they got Hamels it was a for next year kinda thing.

Hope they get the wild card and Cole gets the play in game vs. the Yanks and takes some small measure of revenge for his 2009 WS performance

i didnt read the whole thing but does he address the fact that some players have said they obsess over sabr stats as a way to actually get better?

that shows where they are lacking but does not show how they go about fixing it. for that you need them gum-chewers.

That's my feeling. There are many, many ways in which sports science could (and in some cases has) improved the playing of baseball, but I wouldn't consider much of what he mentioned within the realm of sabrmetrics. But still a worthwhile read.
