Prompted me once again to look into why the Phillies haven't hosted an All Star game in so long (it's nice when you get old and keep learning things anew over and over again). Apparently it's so they don't spoil their chances of getting the game in 2026.

"We think the Year 2026 is a pretty special time for this city and our country," Phillies president David Montgomery told the Daily News on Wednesday. "We were fortunate enough to host the All-Star Game in 1976. If we were to get in line and get that opportunity a couple years before, it would foreclose the opportunity to host in 2026."

Jeebus, I can remember when it was here in 1976, so what are the chances of me being around to see it fifty years later? And, not to be cruel David Montgomery, but your chances might be even slimmer.

MLB announced today that the AL will be the home team for the 2016 game in San Diego, so the AL/NL "home" rotation will continue no matter where the game is held

Looks like the 2018 game will be Toronto or Baltimore, with 2019 going to the Nats

We did host it in 1996. I thought we'd have had it within a couple years of the bank opening. By 2026 people will be talking about how it's time we build a new stadium - pretty much like they were doing in '96.

I was there in 96. Just a young buck, but I remember it was really cool

Congrats to 46. Yankees retiring his number. Hopefully they don't retire it like his HGH testimony.

Pettitte. The Yankees are retiring his number this year and possibly Bernie's #51 and Posada's #20 next year

I mean, the Phillies hosted in 76, then 96. Technically, with 29 other clubs, they got a turn early by hosting in 1996, and their "turn" shouldn't come due until 2025, so 2026 is more or less right on schedule.
