I think he's absolutely right in this case. Teams have started to take shots at their skilled players with no repercussions.

Teams have always taken shots at Giroux/Voracek and other skilled players. Enforcers are about as pointless as it gets and I am glad Hextall sees that.

If you think a guy like Rosehill prevented someone from taking shots at Giroux because they were afraid of him then I think you are in the Ed Snider line of thinking with the hockey of old days.

Also, not having a guy like Rosehill on the 4th line on Sunday was part of the reason they won, the 4th line played well and helped them win.

Yeah, the fourth line was pivotal in that game on Sunday and they wouldn't have been able to win that game without them.

Rinaldo being out of the lineup helps this team immensely in my mind.

I think it's a fine line. They can't let teams take shots like that with no retaliation. Whether its Rosehill or someone else stepping up to the plate, it hasn't happened. They play like a bunch of pussies since Berube took over, which is surprising.

A guy like Rosehill would have zero impact on what big Buff does. If you are going to keep Rinaldo on this team then you can't afford to have an enforcer.

Like I said, someone needs to step up and answer the bell. Not the fucking coach after the game.

What would you want them to do? You'd prefer dressing a guy like Rosehill so he could go get his ass kicked and make the 4th line worthless? They probably lose that game if he plays, and I can tell you he isn't preventing anyone from hitting Giroux or Voracek.

Play a more physical game. Retaliate when someone targets your young star player over and over.

who's hitting voracek? the guy is a machine right now.
giroux dishes it out as much as he gets it. he should be able to protect himself.

enforcers are just dead in this league. only a very small minority still exist and they are in the elite percentile of what they do. a guy like rosehill isn't going to strike fear into anyones heart. i think to a few weeks back against anaheim with getzlaf and perry making noise in that game. you gonna trot rosehill out there to take care of business?

Take Rosehill out of it all together if you want, I think his general premise is correct. They are a soft team under berube.

I just don't really understand what they're supposed to do in Sunday's situation then. They were down 3-1. Start taking dumb penalties and running at other players? Sure, some of what Buff was doing should have been penalized. If the refs saw us doing the same stuff there's a chance it could have been penalized, then we get focused on trying to run guys instead of trying to win the game.

i think the problem is culture man. take a look around, it's a skill league now. at the flyers peak of success, it was because of their skill at forward. you can point toward having pronger as the tough guy, but by the time he came to philly, he had become more of a disciplined defensive presence. you may be right that they're a soft team, but it's not because of physicality and being pushed around. the talent deficiencies are the biggest culprit
