That would probably be a top mark for the Mariners, lol.

Austin Jackson, the outfielder they acquired for Nick Franklin has been .540 as a Mariner.

Dustin Ackley and Endy Chavez are the only two healthy OFers who have had better 2nd half numbers. Chavez can't hit lefties.

With Konerko and Jeter retiring the longest tenured players with the same team in baseball will be 1.Rollins & 2.Utley.

edit: actually Ortiz is #2 by a few days, Utley is #3 I think.

I'm wondering about Asche. .9 WAR so far this year (and I guess that won't change much with today's and tomorrow's games). He only played in 110 games this year. Obviously Franco is and should be a consideration, although the Phillies didn't nearly give him enough playing time this month.

Asche is only 24. Franco is 22.

Sadly, I just don't think Howard is going anywhere. Maybe someone should bait him away from Philly with a plate of ribs. He looks like the kind of guy who likes ribs. I like ribs. Ribs.

Sorry, I don't know what I was going to say. All I can do is think about ribs.

I think Howard makes the trip north next year, but doesn't end the season with the Phillies--or in any MLB organization, for that matter.

I also like RIBS.

I wonder if the Yankees would take Howard for ARod.

It would be a clever move. I can't see anyone wanting Howard though. Could he be a decent DH only facing righties?

what's the deal with ARod. I forget. Is he eligible next year? Salary? Hell, I think it would be clever. Not up Amaro's alley though. Need to clean some front office house.

Totally agree with that scenario...

And while the baby backs get all the attention, some slow cooked beef ones would sound absolutely divine right about now.

He ages well though. Could platoon with Asche and Franco. Loaded at 3B.

@MattGelb: Jimmy Rollins is eulogizing 2014 Phillies. "Thank you for showing up," he tells fans. "We know it was rough. Hopefully we made you smile."
