Crawford and Luis Garcia won the Paul Owens awards. That kind of year on the pitching side. Thought they'd go Giles.

Man, I was impressed with Garcia on Monday night. Thought I'd heard the name wrong when I saw he was throwing 96-97.

Bryce SHOULD be scared.

Win tonight and we're 7 games out of a playoff spot with 17 to play. No chance amirite

And Garcia winning the award for best pitcher shows how awful our system was this year. I read that he's the oldest winner since the award began in 1986

Not to mention he's not even our draft pick or original signing.

Ah, memories. If only Tom Glavine was still around to give up 7 runs in the first inning.

What was so impressive about this was all the examples he presented of teams that were able to rebuild on the fly.

I also enjoy his "Amaro is good because he can't be as dumb as what he says" logic.

Thomas working out next week. Deitch said they backed off Castillo because they think Thomas is a better investment.

False dilemma. Could have gone for both Tomas and Castillo.

Dying to know if this was the same member of the brain trust who championed Delmon Young.

i think i need to give up on more phils regulars. i gave up on kendrick right before he started his run of decency a couple of years back. i gave up on papelbon and rollins going into this season. i gave up on brown and asche midseason this year. asche now has better bb, k, and xbh rates than ruf, and will be ahead of byrd in all three too if his xbh rate rises a bit more. and bref thinks his defense is average.

how does he actually look? is this just luck or is he making adjustments that will stick?

What's the protocol when there's a possibility of rain during a night game? Everyone just huddle together on the concourse? Think I'm going to the game tonight. Go phils.

He has a track record of starting slow and improving at every level, and he's still only at 575 PAs in MLB. I was frustrated with him a few weeks ago, but he's hitting for league average and holding his own at a pretty tough position. And for what it's worth, the veterans reportedly love him for his attitude and preparation.

I don't think the Phils have any choice but to give both him and Franco every chance at playing every day next year
