It sounds like the Phillies and Nola plan to reach an agreement soon and get his professional career going shortly.

Nola struck out 24 more batters in his career than he allowed to reach base.
Dunno how unusual this is in college, but by my back of the envelope calculation, Pedro Martinez struck out 32 more batters in his career than he allowed to reach base. That'll do, pig

shouldn't a glance at WHIP compared to K/9 do it somehow??
Sometimes amateur players are late bloomers, especially on the mound. Imhof wasn't drafted out of high school but moved up Draft boards as Cal Poly's Friday starter. Tall and lean on a 6-foot-5 frame, Imhof has some room to fill out. And what he has is already pretty good. The left-hander pitches downhill with natural cutting movement on his fastball. His short, sharp slider is an out pitch at times. He has solid feel for a changeup, though it's still a work in progress. Imhof is generally around the plate with all of his pitches and has been one of the nation's top strikeout pitchers. There's still some upside to Imhof as he continues to fill out, giving him the chance to be in a big league rotation in the future.

Wolever said Nola could begin his minor-league career pitching at High A Clearwater shortly after he signs a contract.
