Agreed, it's crazy what happens when you put a person in charge who respects the citizens he serves and doesn't shred the Constitution in the process...you know unlike a para-military police squadron that arrests journalists without charges and treats citizens like Taliban/Iraqi insurgents. My blood still boils over what happened Sunday-Wednesday.

Here's what should happen (and probably won't)

1.) If investigation corroborates what many first hand witnesses have described cop who shot Michael Brown should be arrested and booked on murder charges. (Won't happen, he will likely be released from duty and maybe civil penalties)

2.) Police chief should resign effective immediately (he says he's not going anywhere but I think he's gone)

3.) All police officers who threw teargas canisters, fired rubber bullets at peaceful protesters and arrested reporters without due charge and for no reason should be fired immediately. (At most they will probably get paid administrative leave pending investigation, back on force in a few months)

4.) Major steps need to be taken to address 1033 program allowing military grade weaponry to be transferred to civilian police departments (Highly unlikely this will happen, at most we will probably get minimal oversight provisions)

Speaking at a press conference outside the QuikTrip convenience store that was the site of looting Sunday night, Ferguson police chief Thomas Jackson said Wilson stopped Brown after reports of a robbery at a different convenience store.

I hope there was a reason for holding the press conference there other than trying to emphasize the bad acts of the looters.

I have not seen much about VA's esteemed former Governor, Bob McDonnell. The prosecution is finished, so the theater of the defense will commence soon. The twists and turns are too much to document when there are other professional summaries that cover so well. Of note would be the general craziness suggested so far, things like the mention of an infatuation of the star Scientific CEO by Mrs. McDonnell, and the blatant way the former 'first couple' generally conducted themselves. There has to be tons more instances that are lurking because you cannot be that clueless/corrupt but only with one sugar daddy. Just 3 years ago McDonnell was a rising star in the GOP, now he is unemployable.

the trail and their conduct is so insane, or so it seems by the time the media filters it into soundbites for national and NVA consumption. The points of the trial are a mix of fascinating (like a train wreck) and horrifying (in the embarrassing way). I was never a fan of McDonnell, but he and the family turned out to be even bigger hayseeds then I had imagined, yet at the same time I think that is a bit of an act because the fact is that their selfish/self-righteous behavior easily lead to accepting corruption as their right.

The democrats were lazy in that election figuring a three-peat was in the bag and ran their own questionable candidate who basically messaged that he was going to ride the coattails of his predecessors with no concrete evidence of a plan, which was plenty enough for the electorate to pick the seeming lessor of two evils. I had no real confidence in either candidate, but I also had no vision that we would end up with this mess.
