So is that a pre-cursor that they caught before a pulmonary embolism, or what?

He probably has to retire.

Yeah not worth it with his health. He shouldn't put his body through another NHL season, he should just get healthy.

Is there a clause in the over 35 contracts for life threatening conditions or are they stuck putting him on the ltir?

I think LTIR. Technically Pronger has life threatening issues, at least relating to Hockey.

No, he has to go LTIR once the season starts just like Pronger.

Hextall could have a lot of cap space to work with this season.

Pitkanen is available, although not entirely sure what his health situation is like.

EDIT: Just saw an article from a Canes beat writer that said he doesn't expect to play this year.

Eklund

Per source. Hearing this is almost an e5.

An hour ago the Flyers announced Kimmo was getting treated in a Finnish hospital for a blood clot in his right leg and blood clots in both lungs. thoughts and prayers with Kimmo and his family. one of the nicest guys in the business.

Two sources are telling me now that the Flyers are finalizing a deal to sign Micheal Del Zotto.

Del Zotto is not the answer to this team's problem on defense. Not sure Timonen was either, but he was certainly a better option than Del Zotto. Sigh.

Del Zotto's most recent Twitter follow was Molly Sullivan, FWIW.

Decent low risk high reward guy. Not like there are a ton of guys still out there.

There is not one player that is an answer to this team's defensive problems. Well, maybe there are some players, but they are not coming here since they are on other teams.

Exactly.

They are in a transition phase until the young defensemen are ready. Del Zotto is a very solid stop gap.

To clarify my earlier statement of:

I don't think the guy is a horrible player. If you told me going into this year if I could have Timonen or MDZ, I'd take Timonen. I don't think Del Zotto is far off, though. At $1.3 mil it's a no brainer. He is not the answer, but it's not his fault. Hextall has to rebuild the backline.

I can only imagine the kind of deal Homer would have given him.
