If we count Ichiro's Japanese league hits, might as well count AAA hits. Still quite impressive

Not official yet but it looks like Soriano is heading back to the Yankees, with the Cubs getting a mid-level prospect and paying most of the remaining salary

There goes that whole staying under $189M next year thing, I guess. Unless they're gonna shake some things up

Woops, missed that part. Kind of hard to believe, though. Depending on what "mid-level prospect" means.

I really don't understand how they are 5 games over .500. They only have Cano and Kuroda and their bullpen doing any good this year. They'll probably end up in last place.

Pretty sure they aren't going to be paying a big portion of ARod's salary
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

Wow, yeah. I can't find anything firm but the speculation is that salary lost to PED suspension would not count toward the luxury tax

Seems weird for the team to benefit in that situation, but it is a pretty unusual situation with A-Rod and the Yanks I guess

Wow, that's pretty amazing if true. If suspended plays don't count towards the cap then injure players shouldn't either.

Even if it counts towards the cap, you're not actually paying it, so you probably could go to $208m, pay the penalty, and still only pay out $189.

Still my understanding was they wanted to get under for show, not the actual tax money. They plan to go right back over for 2015

Yankees are now 4.5 back of the last wild card spot. 3 behind the WC runner up, tied with Cleveland. They have scored 5 fewer runs than they have allowed. Cleveland has scored 28 more runs than they have allowed. They are 7 behind in the division and 4.5 behind the second runner up in the division.

The Yankees have 2 prospects in the BA top 50 mid-season list. #s 34 and 45. Both are A level.

BREAKING:
According to CBS Evening News’ Jim Axelrod, Alex Rodriguez could be facing a lifetime ban from MLB.
Ryan Braun was given a 65-game suspension on Monday for his involvement in the Biogenesis PED clinic and reports from ESPN have stated that the evidence against A-Rod is "far beyond" what Major League Baseball investigators had on the Brewers star.

I would have mixed feelings. They should vacate the 2009 world series title.
