He's been on 5 or 6 teams in the last few months.

Not bad for an outfielder.

I think this move cements Ruben's bust on the Phillies wall of fame.

he's even getting serviceable mileage out of Lannan. We can't leave out Romero, Eyre and Moyer either.

Until recently, Cloyd's 2013 performance in the majors was significantly better than his AAA #s.

I have no problem keeping Dubee if Sandberg will keep him.

After the good work done by several folks here, this point looks to be real solid. I do remember last decade the Phils tried to go cheap with Aussies and Canadians. It didn't work because all those guys were no good. They were late to the party. While the Phillies low minor league teams and to a certain extent, their upper minors as well, are lousy with internationals, the big leagues are semi-lousy with star international players.

The Phils have only a handful or home grown international big leaguers. And only one can be considered a star so far. The second best of them just got suspended for 50.

More money, more scouts perhaps, building the best academies in MLB all were probably doable and probably would have paid off with at least a few big leaguers and even some stars.

Hopefully this has and will be changing. The fact that there are some good looking young Latins and Arubans in the system is encouraging. The contract for Gonalez, even if it goes belly up, at least shows the Phils are players for defectors and such.

A Schenectady HS alum.

Not really pertinent. I just like saying Schenectady.

Watched part of a movie called Sinadoche or something like that. Supposedly that's what folks call Schenectady. At least the people in that movie. Or something. Anyways, the movie sucked.

Perhaps the failure of the young bullpen arms is because they weren't really that good to begin with.

I think I saw that in the theater. Or was it a movie about me seeing the movie in the theater that I saw at home? Well anyway.

It's just small sample size. When they regress to the mean and pitch to their peripherals, our reliefers will be dynamite.

Olney suggested a Kemp for Hamels deal. Crasnick didn't like it for the Phillies because of Kemp's injury history. Money is about the same on both contracts. Crasnick also said the Phillies front office is sentimental about their icon players.

I don't like the deal myself, but if Kemp was as healthy as Hamels, it would be a fair enough deal.

Olney just want to be able to say "see, I told you Hamels was going to the Dodgers."

If Ruben can get value for Rollins (and Rollins to agree to a trade) he's a great GM.

If he can dump the Howard contract, he's the greatest GM.

Not sure how much I'd want to pat him on the back for putting out a fire, when he's the one that poured gasoline all over the place and lit a match.

Good point.

Worst GM, then greatest GM. Just to prove he could do it. Smug.

Darin Ruf now has a 1.0 WAR this year in 105 PA. In 317 PA, Ryan Howard's WAR is 0.4.

P.S. Ruf's OPS vs. RHP is 1.025
