I Don't Care About Walks - Phillies Random Thoughts

Hamels looked furious last night. For the first time in a long time, it looked like he was fighting himself on the mound, and livid with the team. As much as I loathe Sarge, he is right on the matter that it is in his head that the team doesn't score for him. Almost everything was overthrown. It's natural as it is the human element to compensate and try to do too much when you don't trust your team.

I didn't watch the game, but this is what I was thinking. If they can get him some early runs, I bet he'll be fine.

We could use some athleticism on our professional athletic team. Howard and the Youngs can barely go 90 feet at a time and Ruiz is slowing. Some other guys don't have baserunning instincts which hurts as well.

Clearly we need to draft more toolsy guys and put them straight into the team for a shot of athleticism.

This is what a flawed .500 team does. Looks really good sometimes against guy like Bumgarner. Looks terrible other times against Kevin Slowey. I'd recommend not getting overly excited about a few good or bad games.
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

Yup. I can imagine a scenario in which they get hot for a few weeks and maybe even sustain it over a couple months to get into the race--mostly having to do with Chooch and Rollins showing up and Revere delivering something at the bottom of the order while the pitching remains serviceable or better. But it's a pretty middling team, and in a way this isn't a great scenario because we know they're increasingly badly positioned beyond this year.

did not realize his walk rate was so low back then, thought he it was higher. that's a little worrisome

The team is an infuriating one. It is just good enough to tease people, especially Lord Smug, that the team has one last ride, but it is just bad enough to teeter between bad and mediocrity. The best metaphor for this team is driving a car that is stuck in a puddle of mud. If the team went backwards, it could reassess things and move forward in a better way, and if it moved forward, everything would be easier. We're just stuck.

If Rollins heats up for a month is there any way they could trade him for Yasiel Puig? I'd feel pretty ok with Galvis as the starter. I think Rollins would be happy to play in LA so he'd approve the trade. The Dodgers have like $500 million tied up in their curretn 3 OF so they can't move them, plus they're pretty stupid so who knows. Of course the Ruben move would be to trade Galvis for Ethier though.

Some wishful thinking, I'd say no way but then again the Dodgers haven't been too bright lately with their roster

Puig was signed for $42MM. They'll give away Ethier before trading their 22 year old Bo Jackson tearing up AA.

You're looking at Rollis + Lee + money for Puig, and even that might not be enough.
