Lerud is on my top 30 prospect list. He runs good for a catcher. Is he a catcher?

He is a catcher. Third round pick by the Pirates in 2003 out of a Reno, Nevada High School.

Can't hit lefties at all it looks like.

Possible he can't hit righties so good either.

No word on how much he loads up on his swing.

27 year old catcher for Reading.

Lifetime .664 ops, this year worse.

0/1 on steals this year.

Has 5 HBP and 7 extra base hits so far, and he's working to keep the ratio moving in the right direction.

Averages 1 error per game at 1B, but the sample size is small.

Has 3B experience.

Former third round pick, so has a great pedigree.

I for one am excited to see how he does riding the bench.

That Uni Watch list sucks. Clippers have awesome unis but they have 'em as worst in all of sports. Ptthpptd. But for the record, I think lists are cool.

I know I'm overly fascinated by this, but what's John Suomi thinking - he's the aaa backup catcher who's hitting better than the aa backup catcher, and doesn't get called up. If it wasn't going to happen under this set of circumstances (2 catchers getting hurt, 2 others on the depth chart being deemed prospects that can't be called up), it's not happening.

Lehigh valley has a half game lead in the wild card with like 10 games left, since the big club isnt going anywhere this year, maybe they just wanna leave the aaa club together for their playoff push. I dunno.
