Major League Dads: Baseball's Best Players Reflect on the Fathers Who Inspired Them to Love the Game Would be a great father's day gift. And I'm guessing the author is Our Own Leigh Tobin, who works in the publicity department and also holds the position of "director of alumni relations". Hung out with her a bit at Phantasy Camp. Fun chick.

Didn't realize Ortiz was so close to 400 HR: 391. The way Adam Dunn is going this season, he might make it there as well. He's got 382.

Tigers guys should focus more on the fact that Leyland broked Verlander

Verlander didn't get the memo.

Moronsi says V-Mart could return this season. Uh... WTF? He tore his ACL in January. That would be something

I guess playing in September wouldn't be that strange, but geez, think about the long term Detroit, don't need to bring that guy back now IMHO

Yankees announcers were saying Leyland said Verlander had a rough start this weekend b/c the game started 13 minutes later than usual due to some player ceremony beforehand. They said he has a very specific routine and if it's altered it can mess him up. They also said he superstitiously eats Taco Bell the night before every start. So in short, he's a weirdo.
