Safe and Secure with Baseball Random Thoughts

Kind of interesting story contrasting the fates of two South Jersey "can't miss" prospects, Mike Trout and Billy Rowell.

Although it would have been nice to get a comment from Rowell, if possible, who comes off as a drug-addicted loser, to steal a phrase.

Good friend of mine coached Trout at Millville. Stays in touch with him as well. Told me three years ago he was going to be an All Star in the Big Leagues...might be the only thing he ever said that is going to turn out to be true...

Stark has info on next year's schedule and how interleague will work:

-- 18-20 interleague games per team
-- No more than 1 interleague series per day in April and over last 5 weeks
-- No more than 1 road interleague series per team in final 5 weeks
-- Division-by-division matchups rotate annually, with teams playing all 5 teams in the other division
-- 3-4 "rivalry" games, likely home-and-home, back-to-back, spread over a Monday-Thursday
-- Every team will have a "rival"
-- The Phils and Braves will rotate between the Red Sox and Blue Jays
-- The Astros and Rangers will rotate between the Diamondbacks and Rockies

Wow. Colorado is pretty stinky. Terrible pitching.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS

trout @Trouty20 beats out grounder to ss. very exciting #angels player. and came for about $239M less than 1 teammate

Mussina gets in the HOF, right?

(thought brought on by SportsCenter's mention that he, like Scherzer, also had a 15K, 7IP game)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Elaborate statistics such as OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage), WAR (wins above replacement) and FIP (fielding independent pitching) were defined and explained.

At what point does Brandon Beachy become a Cy Young contender, a la Kair last season?

Wait, are you talking about Brandon Beachy, "baseball's underrated ace?"

WHERE DO THE BRAVES GET ALL THESE ACES

Don't worry. I'm sure Brandon Beachy will hold that .214 BABIP right where it is. And Jurrjens won the Cy Young last year, right? Oh, what's that? He was sent to AAA a few weeks ago and gave up 11 runs in a game the other day? OK.

well, with his current K rate yea. Last year he had a 10.74 K/9, 11.5 IFF%, and an 11.8 swining strike%. That's very, very good stuff right there. This year all of that has tanked.

LOL, without fail.

He is better the Kair, but let's get completely carried away with his unsustainable results, decreased K-Rate and decrease velocity.
