I used to like Paterno, a lot actually. Good coach and I thought he was hilarious. But I'm also objective and certain things have a way of changing my opinion about people. For example shielding a known child rapist. But that's for a different thread.
Paterno shielded a known rapist? You clearly know some information that would be pretty important to law enforcement agencies. I hope you make it a point to report that information.
I have heard about Paterno being told about a possible witnessed crime and him passing that information on to the proper authorities to investigate it, but you obviously know something completely different than what has been reported.

If you get molested, I don't think it's unreasonable to wait until you're good and ready to go public with it.

But the prosecutors couldn't do anything, so they may have left it alone there without the PSU stuff coming out.

I always feel bad for the victims in any kind of case like this. But to just say that a person is "sick and disgusting" or something of the sort glosses over the fact that there are a lot of people in the world who have urges, impulses, and desires that they can't control. Not because they just don't feel like it, but because they physically and emotionally can't cope with it.

True. But it's not like they did not come forward until Sandusky thing.
Personalities on DNL ripped Penn State for not confronting and being open about Sandusky issue. We get two minutes on DNL where basically everyone stutters and says "I don't know about anything about that... How bout them Eagles"

I read some books recently that touched on that subject generally, but further explores the decision making process. The indicies in those books lead back to some good source material.
Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely
How We Decide by Jonah Leher
Blink by Malcolm Gladwell
