my wife asked who was that guy and noted how awful his (and musser's) voice was. i informed her that they were both best known for their radio gigs.

do you not agree that someone who is on radio should have a pleasant voice? one of the reasons that i stopped listening to WIP after phillies games many years ago was because of the awful voice of whoever the overnight guy is. if i am listening to radio, i want to like what i hear. if i don't like a song, i'm not going to continue to listen to it; i'm going to find something else.

also- do you think that anthony gargano deserves whatever celebrity he has?

I can understand local sports radio having someone who is not that great sounding because of some local connection or whatever. The horrifying thing is that Gargano has a national show on the weekends on Fox Radio. What the hell?

I'm saying people who listen to show's like Gargano's are generally more concerned with the content of the show than the sound of the person's voice, at least to some degree. Gargano is probably more popular in Philly at least in part because he sounds like one of us. But he's basically doing a persona just like everyone else on sports radio

that's fine. but having met many of the people on this board you have to know that he doesn't actually sound like any of us.

so you just missed the point of what my wife's and my conversation was. i guess it's just what people would commonly call ironic that two guys with such grating speaking voices would be known for being on the radio.

I couldn't believe I was hearing his voice when I turned on the radio one Saturday. I don't get it at all why anyone outside of Philly would think that he is some kind of broadcasting talent. I've also heard Eskin filling in on national shows (Dan Patrick).
