Phifer of course. The Pete Orr show lives on for an additional day.

Sounds like it's still Hamels on Monday, then Halladay Tuesday, and Lee Wednesday.

What a couple of frustrating weeks with all the rainouts and delays. The team was on such a roll too, coming off their 9-1 West Coast road trip. :(

Someone uploaded this to youtube, will probably get deleted eventually. Kinda depressing since they weren't too good this year. Appears to be just this 1 part:

It was a gutsy move for Giles to get Parrish.

Too bad he turned out to be not that good.

Was that the first big post-Collusion FA signing?

That's neat to see, though I'm just now realizing you weren't answering bakestar's question.

In response to that, Giles offer was made while the collusion "agreement" (I'll give the owners the benefit of air quotes, since they at least didn't write anything down) was still in effect, and Giles had been asked by Jerry Reisndorf and old friend Bud Selig not to make an offer to him.

Giles certainly wasn't a complete maverick-his offer was actually less than the tigers had offered to retain Parrish and they tried to insert a "no sue" clause. eventually they agreed that Parrish could sue mlb but not the Phillies. But for a guy who's as much an organization man as they come it must have been hard to step outside the lines and to do what he thought was in the best interest of the Philllies.

Then they brought in Joe Cowley. yeesh.

Except for Andre Dawson, who gave the Cubs a one year contract and let them fill in the amount. They gave him like a 30% cut in salary.

Yowsa. After going 0-4 in 4 starts with the big club while surrendering 26 runs in 11 2/3 IP -- 21 hits; 17 BBs and a 15.43 ERA (not sure what his xFIP was) he went to AAA to work on things.

In 63 IP there, he walked 76 guys and HBP'd 16 (!) guys. He allowed 64 runs. Yikes.

Say it ain't so, Joe.

I remember taping that '87 highlight film off Channel 29 before a Spring Training game in '88. That might be the first time I've seen it since then

The Luis Aguayo walkoff against the Mets shown in the intro took place during the final week of the season. The Mets were basically on life support in the NL East race by that point and pretty much needed to win out to catch the Cardinals. They won the first game of the series at the Vet, but the Phillies took the last two. Don Carman pitched a 1-hitter in the middle game, the only hit an infield single by Mookie Wilson. I believe it was the only baserunner the Mets had that night. Then Aguayo hit the game-winner off Jesse Orosco in the final game, which I think knocked the magic number down to 1 for the Cardinals, who would win the East and the NL pennant

Tomorrow marks the one month anniversary of the Hunter Pence trade. Since then, the Phillies have made 0 exciting roster moves. You read that right. Zero. This once exciting media darling team is in real danger of loosing the public's attention.
This is what a real tenderoni likes to do for you

That's flipping awesome.

Especially if the Phillies get to beat the "Stay in the Closet" Braves.
