So RAJ and David Montgomery missed the first 5 innings of yesterday's game because Proefrock's car ran out of gas. More on the blog soon. Also in the car was Jesse Rendell, son of Daily News columnist Ed Rendell

A must-read.

“That reaction from Jayson was funny,” says Amaro in his office in February, again flashing that smile. “He was pissed off. He had just signed with Washington. He said to me, ‘You dumbass. You could’ve had both of us.’ And I said, ‘You’re the dumbass. You could have taken our arbitration offer.’”

just about to post that. incredible.

I'm disappointed to learn that Rube doesn't fly into games via helicopter.

Don't you mean parachute in FROM a helicopter?

I was thinking jet pack...

The only way it would have been funnier is if those two sentences were switched around.

Right now, Amaro’s with Sophia and Andrea, ages 8 and 12. (He’s been divorced from their mother, who lives in Bucks County, for 10 years.)

What about Jose Lopez? Apparently, the Rockies are willing to trade him. He's a great defender at 3B. Sorta like Feliz redux except he doesn't K much and actually hits HRs. Would cost less than Young and doesn't make much.
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

Not really but I thought that line was interesting. The rest of that article was rehashed stuff but the response to wertz was great.

I'll take J Lopez, 3.6mm salary should be doable....especially if we are able to cash in a certain Cyle Kendrick (although they probably don't need a depth starter as much as most teams, and probably wouldn't be interested in Blanton since they have their own Blanton in Aaron Cook they are trying to move)

Lopez walks less than Pedro Feliz. But he's only 27 (he's been in the bigs since he was 20. He's a better glove at 3B than Feliz, and he has hit for a high enough average in the past to be a slightly above average hitter for two of the last three years.

He has conditioning and attitude issues but room him with Castillo and he should be OK there.

He's a terrible base runner but he might improve with the Phils. Definitely needs change of scenery.

Kendrick for him would be win-win.

Had an .883 OPS away from Safeco and sub .700 at home in '09 but those numbers were flipped in '08. He was pretty bad everywhere last year.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

Awesome. Lidge has shoulder issues and will start the season on the DL.
