If Detroit and Boston hold on (and they've got fat leads) the Phils will have the best record in baseball.

Wow, that print is super-cool.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

It is. Except for the fact that Utleys arms look like they were painted by MC Escher.

I love that they have Harry interviewing Whitey in uni. Just googled Phillies + 3 for the magic number thread, and it came up with that print.

I know it comes in that coffee table book they are shelling on the telecasts. Not sure how to get it by itself though

Wow. I have the coffee table book and sure enough it's in there. The one guy I couldn't place was the drunk looking guy in the chair with Chuck, Owens and the Phanatic. Sure enough, it's Dallas Green. It doesn't look like Green but it does look like a drunk guy in a chair so I guess the artist captured his essence.

There's actually a lot of cool stuff in the book. I just found a facsimile of the Jimmy Rollins scouting report. They have a yes or no question on the form as to whether or not the guy is a "Phillies Type." Interesting.

It would be nice to hvae the best record in all of baseball, but who cares?

I care.

Phillyfanatic wrote:The only thing that matters is best record in all of the National League, because that clinches homefield advantage through the entire playoffs.

I hope the moment they clinch best record in the National League they rest every starter they've got except for Rollins, Blanton and Kendrick and they set up Halladay, Hamels and Oswalt with maximum rest. If Halladay, Hamels and Oswalt have one more start in them then pitch them 5 innings each and use the bullpen the rest of the way. Get those guys rested and set up for the playoffs.

Well, yeah. It's not worth trying for at the expense of resting the starters and setting up the rotation but it would be $#@! awesome if they finished with the best record, considering they were sitting at 2 games over .500 two months ago.

I also think they had some thing on baseball-reference a few months ago about how many times certain teams had the best record in MLB, and I don't think the Phillies ever did, not even just for the NL.

it's on the wall in the entrance to the diamond club. the clock in daulton's locker reads 12:12 or something like that

also, notice the rose on the table...

Phillies “Dream Team” Painting Possibly Coming Soon To Fans (from May 2010)

One of the artist's replies...
it’s pretty tough to finalize a list like this. you could include 100 players and still feel like someone has been left out. this is not an official top 25. it is a cross section of greats from the past 125 years of this amazing club. they are just symbolic of the talent that has walked through the Phillie’s clubhouse. can you imagine the stories they would be telling each other?! I loved doing this painting. there are a whole lot of hidden secrets in this image. Go to my website to see the full story. http://www.jcap.com.au

For example…There is an apology letter written to Alice in Richie Ashburn’s locker. And an alarm clock in Dutch’s locker with the date (from the mayan calendar) he believes we are all going to be beamed up. all in good fun.

From the story on the painting:
