Pedro Martinez Appreciation Thread

Postby BigEd76 » Fri Nov 06, 2009 13:09:22

RealKen:

Perhaps you're curious how Pedro Martinez reacted to being depicted in a diaper on both the front page of the New York Post and a bonus poster inside.

Not surprisingly, he was amused.

About three hours before Game 6, Pedro held up a copy of the poster in the Phillies' clubhouse and spoke of how impressed he was by the little man's "babyhood." His teammates roared with laughter.

Pedro Martinez eager to pitch for the Phillies again

And I'm eager to let him!

Associated Press wrote:Pedro Martinez says he's thankful that the Philadelphia Phillies gave him a chance to play for them and is eager to compete for the NL East champions next season.

The 38-yearold Martinez said Saturday at David Ortiz's charity golf tournament at Cap Cana the Phillies "treated me very well and they were very professional. They will always have the door open."
"I'm in a bar with the games sound turned off and that Cespedes home run still sounded like inevitability."

In clearer hindsight, he had the flu.

if the difference between the polanco and figgins/beltre contracts saved us enough to sign pedro, it will have been worth it. and this could well be the case. revenues from winning may not yet be enough to cancel out enough stadium debt and the financial crisis to boost the payroll any higher.
or, if payroll can go up, pedro + halladay is better than just halladay if part of the price of halladay is happ.

Yes, I agree. The point is, the depth of my man-crush on Pedro Martinez the Phillies scares even me.
