Dear Scott,
I want to first thank you for taking time for reading this. I cannot help but e-mail you about this because I am sitting here watching Gregg Murphy interview Paula Abdul in the fourth inning of this game. This needs to stop.
I have been watching this team since 1996, and I grew up with Harry, Richie (only for one year sadly), LA, Kruker, Wheels, Kent, Andy, and everyone in between. I now exclusively listen to the radio broadcast because the television broadcast has become almost unbearable to watch. I know in the past you had responded to people from the Phillies message board that I frequent. You had said to "give things time" for Tom, Wheels, Sarge and everybody to settle in. I have given it 3.5 years, and things are getting worse. I have been following broadcasters for a very long time, and even went to a sports broadcasting camp 10 years ago because I too wanted to be a baseball broadcaster some day. It's still a dream of mine. I watch baseball games with a near addiction, and the Phillies' broadcast does not match up. Scott and LA are FANTASTIC. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. I wanted that to be in caps so you understand how unbelievably awesome they are.
I have heard Tom is a great guy, and that Wheels is too, but this broadcast is not up to par anymore. I know you have responded to people in the past, but I don't think that's good enough for me anymore. I want to meet with you and Rob Brooks to give you a fan perspective of what is happening with the television broadcast. I would love to hear back from you, Scott. Thanks for all your work on Action News over the years, and thank you for taking on this job with the team. You've been great. If you want to forward this to Rob, please let me know. I would love to discuss this stuff with both of you.
Thank you,

Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for checking in with your views of our broadcast team. Paula Abdul was interviewed because she is representing Major League Baseball’s Prostate Awareness Campaign. It’s a message that all men should hear. It’s unfortunate that you no longer accept our front office responding to your criticisms unless you can tell us what you think in person. If there comes a time when Rob Brooks decides to meet with fans I will make sure that he gets in touch with you. Again, thanks for taking the time to let us know how you feel about our Television Broadcast.
Best Regards,
Scott Palmer

Thank you, Scott.
I know we are all frustrated right now, but I would have been sending this e-mail if we were 28-31 or 59-0. I saw Joe Torre in the booth, and I knew immediately what was going on. I didn't really need to see Paula Abdul to understand. Prostate cancer is a very serious thing. Seven weeks ago, I almost died as a result of an epidural hematoma caused by drugs I was taking for my stomach that didn't work. I understand life is precious. Joe Torre is a fantastic ambassador for the game, and I knew exactly what he was saying without even having to hear. I don't believe Paula Abdul has anything to do with the Phillies, baseball, or the ComcastSportsNet telecast. I prefer to hear from Scott and Larry and that's just the way things are right now. I would love to talk to Rob, because baseball is essentially my entire life. I am not angry by any stretch of the imagination. I just want to have an open and honest discussion about things. That's all. Thanks again Scott.
Rhadigan wasn't getting significantly better: POSSIBLY TRUE. Recently, Rhadigan incorrectly identified a fouled bunt attempt with two strikes by Elvis Andrus. That's a strikeout. It was an embarrassing mistake. And maybe it would have been fixed the second time it happened, but in baseball, something kind of out of the ordinary happens almost nightly. Nadel's grasp of the rules and the nuances of the game are what make him a soon-to-be Hall of Famer. It also potentially makes anybody else seem a little less informed. Everybody knew the broadcasts would be somewhat rough at the start, but they were rougher than expected. Perhaps, Rhadigan should have been given a series of games during the offseason to broadcast as simulations. Maybe that would have been ideal. Not sure how practical, though. Of the few broadcasts I watched on TV, there were some moments when Rhadigan seemed to be finding his groove and others where it seemed like a step backwards. The Rangers use those TV broadcasts as three-hour infomercials for selling tickets. They realized they can't afford to let the ticket pitchman slowly grow into the role.
• The Rangers erred by choosing Rhadigan over more experienced play-by-play voices: FALSE. The Rangers had a slam-dunk choice - Dallas WT White graduate Scott Franzke, who learned the finer points of broadcasting as Eric Nadel's pre- and post-game host on KRLD and then went on to Philadelphia to learn more from Harry Kalas. The only problem for the Rangers: When Kalas passed away, the Philies moved Franzke into his chair. Franzke, like Nadel, loves the radio broadcast, which has a completely different feel than TV. Faced with losing him, the Phillies realized what a valuable young broadcasting talent they had on their hands. An increase in pay and the chance to remain on radio made the Phils the winner. Or maybe, he was just a package deal with Cliff Lee.

Bucky wrote:CFP, you've made yourself irrelevant on the basis of the Paula Abdul argument. You shoulda stuck to the issue you want fixed- that wheeler and mccarthy stink like feet. throwing out the paula abdul thing was a non-issue, and now they are associating you with that viewpoint instead of the real problem. They're probably lumping you in with the people who complain about the alexander hamilton commercials now.
