This isn't meant to be a defense of T-Mac, who has made me cringe numerous times with his calls. It just doesn't seem that fandom is necessary for announcing; I'd much prefer a smooth PbP guy who makes good calls than a sorta shaky PbP guy who happens to like the Phillies.
