Did anyone hear Sutcliffe's slip-up earlier, when he stumbled saying "success"?

Is it really a bad contract? Maybe it isn't the 9 figure deal he wanted, but still.

I was gonna say, I know I got up to get a drink and snack, but those commercials seemed like they lasted forever.

It's certainly not as bad as Abreu, Burrell, and Dunn's deals. But it's still probably below what he might have gotten if fewer corner OF had been on the market.

I think the structure of the tourney is far superior to the last edition, but I don't really get the extra game to establish seeding for the next round. Why not have the team that goes 2-0 be the top seed and the team that goes 2-1 be the second seed? Outside of money (an extra games worth of tickets), does it make much sense? I don't think the teams are going to be trying all that hard in the seeding games, though I guess it gives a chance for some of the weaker pitchers on the rosters to get some experience.

Also, Australia now up 10-7. Go Aussies!

It's so nice watching this game and listen to them talking about us being the defending World champs.

Well, it's higher than Coors, right? No surprise the ball carries there.

Incidentally, what is Snelling's status? Will he be back at Lehigh Valley next year or did some other team sign him? Or is he out of MLB?

I've only watched about 20 minutes of this Australia-Mexico game, but I've heard Charlie Steiner say this "Australia only scored 4 runs in three games in the 2006 WBC" stat at least four times.

Australia finishes off Mexico via the mercy rule. 17-7. Quite a beat down for an upset.

And again, this game was in Mexico. Not quite the massive upset of the Dutch, but this is still pretty big especially given the circumstances and how it came about.

#1 reason i hate the WBC: as hard as it is to blow someone out like that in baseball, there's no freaking way Australia is that much better than Mexico. if they played a 7-game series, it'd be 4-3.
no offense but you are everything that's wrong with America

It appears Jim Kaat's commentary is aimed toward people who have never watched the game.
