That's great until a couple of retirees get stuck standing on it.

The switch to "Miami Marlins" is underway. "FLORIDA" and the "F" logo are gone from the road jerseys (plus they've dumped their favorite black alternate), but the hat hasn't changed yet...

I was so pumped up by that I napped. How unbelievably lame. It cannot possibly make the cut to be installed. The letter pile is better and even that is pretty lame. I know it says the money, public money, has been allocated, but someone need to show up an appeal to the sense that this is not the art district, but a baseball venue.

If it showered the onlookers with foie gras, I would be more favorable.

Lame is in the eye of the beholder, and if people don't like it, they don't. I don't like some things by Red Grooms and a lot of his stuff treads the line between fine art and crowd-pleasing cartoon, but I think in this case crowd-pleasing cartoon is totally appropriate. I think it will look a lot better than in that video, although still goofy, since goofy is one of the things it aspires to be, and I don't think humor in a ballpark is out of place. We're talking about the Marlins after all.

And really, what is it competing against? The Mets glacial apple? The guy who doesn't slide into the beer anymore? A light up giant Liberty Bell with a recorded "bong"? Which of these is less lame? In fact lame seems to be a requirement of the genre, so the Marlins seem to be just fitting in with tradition.

I thought it was kind of cruel to knock on aquarium glass, let alone foul off 95 mph fastballs in to them?
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

This is obviously a very imaginative artist because he/she drew a stadium filled with fans

That would be rather, uh, messy.

Haha I saw this last night reading the article. It made me laugh. The one right right above it also was funny too.

Hopefully the 5 season ticket holders at the new ballpark will enjoy it on a nightly basis.

70% done a nod to the Marlin's season?

"Right now, we have more seats in the upper deck of Sun Life Stadium than the total capacity of this ballpark," Delorme said. "It puts in perspective the type of experience the fans will get to take advantage of."

So no fans should be closer to the action, but with the shear lack of tickets sold it should look about the same in the stands... empty.

This pic from the article makes it look more like a shiny new Sea World amphitheater, which I guess fits with the team put doesn't really mesh with me for baseball.
