Win line also doubles as Moyer's fastball velocity in the 2nd year of the deal

there's about 20-25 people on this board that would be a better general manager than rube. i truly mean that.

Must have realized they were out on everyone else and bent over for a 46 year old, acquiescing to his demands. Of course the two pitchers they needed to be in most on -Sheets and Unit- they never even gave a moment's thought to signing. I will be in my insanity chamber for the rest of the afternoon if you need me

If it's for more than like 2/13, I might sob uncontrollably.

I really, really, really don't like the way this offseason has gone.

We just gave a 47-year-old pitcher a raise and a 2-year deal, when he was already making $6M/yr.

In basically the same number of innings in 2007 and 2008, he gave up 23 fewer hits, including 10 fewer homers, and 30 fewer earned runs. We're paying him for 2008, twice, and ignoring 2007. And, psst, he's 47.

Sweet.

At the end of the offseason, we should start a "Could Have and Did" thread.

Could have... signed Dunn for 2/22. Did.... sign Ibanez for 3/31.5
Could have... signed Unit for 1/9. Did.... sign Moyer for 2/15.

That kind of a thing. It'll be fun.

BTW, I've decided that if we were going to give an old LH outfielder a shot, I wanted Griffey on a 1-yr prove-it deal.

With your track record of excellence, we should all expect 95+ wins now.

Thanks.

I am somewhat sarcastic, like you are with saying we're only going to win 70something games. I think it's a dumb move. Well, a bad series of moves. They still might end up working out. I would have handled it differently. I won't really flip out until terms are released.

And to be fair, he just turned 46, not 47. Big difference.

oh man. So true.

Maybe my girlfriend will come home from work today with a hot asian prostitute and tell me she's always secretly wanted to experiment. THAT would save the day.
