Moyer signs a 2 year deal

I don't mind having Moyer here BUT not at 2 years.

All they had to do was offer arb. He accepts, he gets 7 mil and a one year deal, which is great for both parties. By placing the arb tag on him you prevent him from getting a 2 year deal from anyone including us. No one was going to 2 years for him AND lose a 1st rounder. Ruben f'd it up.

You are very likely correct, but I am already numb to the current decision making (I think it is a magic 8 ball).

So does this mean the rotation is set at

Hamels
Myers
Blanton
Moyer
Ho Park

I imagine Happ/Kendrick/Carassco wil get to compete for the last spot with Park.

This rotation is not all that great.

If it stays healthy, I think that rotation will be better than last year's. Still, a guy like Lowe would have been nice.

I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

At this point last year the rotation didn't look all that great either.
Mainly because Adam Eaton was still a part of it. Wait, isn't he still?

If you go back further, it enters into Randy's prime, which is to his advantage. Moyer has been league average for the last 5 years. We'll be paying for last year, an aberration. Randy has been better than league average in 4 of the last 5 years.

Except Johnson isn't the same pitcher he was in 04 and that 123 was for 10 games then he was injured the rest of the year....

In the last 3 years Johnson was 117, 90 and injured most of a season.
Moyer was 118, 92, 104 and he's started 32 games or more every year since 2001. Until he shows signs of slowing down, I'll stick with Moyer. If he sucks maybe he'll retire anyway.

Even Randy Johnson was only looking for a one year deal though

I am interested in seeing what he gets for that year. If it's over 7 it's just as dumb as the Moyer signing. Moyer showed he still can't pitch well over the course of a full season just last year. I don't expect him to be still pitching that way in year two of this deal which is why I don't like it. But Moyer this year over Johnson this year at close to the same money I am definitely taking Moyer.

I see no reason to think that Johnson is going to be anything close to respectable in this upcoming season. He might be for a few games. Of course I was wrong about him last season.

I didn't realize that, but we still don't know what the contract exactly is and what Johson will get. And I can't be too upset about not letting Moyer go.
