The other one had a four day head start?
That's why true Phillies fans regard some politician straddling two different bandwagons with derision.
I remember that when I was a kid the Phillies would often be 20 games out of first by mid-June. Yet, my parents would stay up listening to a twilight double-header from Los Angeles on the scratchy radio in the sun pallor of our Olney (Niiiiiiiiiiiiiice) row home.

(AP) - In a region experiencing World Series fever, Republican John McCain questioned Democrat Barack Obama's character Tuesday after he expressed support for both teams playing in the upcoming baseball championship.gusmoney wrote:"Can't lose: Obama backs Rays, Phillies"
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1008/14750.htmlBarack Obama, campaigning in the key swing state of Florida, is seeking to capitalize on the excitement over the World Series-bound Tampa Bay Rays, telling a Tampa crowd he was “showing some love for the Rays,” several members of which joined him onstage.
Only problem?
Obama, a self-avowed Chicago White Sox fan, declared his allegiance earlier this month for the Rays’ National League opponent in baseball’s championship, the Philadelphia Phillies.
No matter who ends up victorious [in the ALCS] however, one thing is for certain: an underdog will be on the winning end. At least, that’s true according to Sarah Palin, who said this while campaigning in New Hampshire yesterday:
Ms. Palin said that “Red Sox fans know how to turn an underdog into a victor.”
Well, that’s factually inaccurate, seeing as the Red Sox were actually the favorites to win this series when it started. But okay, maybe she’s saying at this point in time, they’re underdogs to win the series. Fine. But here’s what’s interesting: She used the same line in Florida last week:
“How about those Tampa Bay Rays?” Ms. Palin said after the Rays defeated the Chicago White Sox.
“You know what that tells me? It tells me that the people in this area know a little something about turning an underdog into a victor.”

I guess. I thought it was agreed that once Ed posted his thread, it became the thread. I don't really care mind you, I was just wondering why the pattern had been broken this time.
