honestly, if i had gone out 1 or 2 weeks back, i wouldn't be back in yet. the whole point of being out (to me) is pain avoidance, and the chance of a painful end-of-season trainwreck is still uncomfortably high. there is no way i see to avoid two more starts by blanton and two more by the 5th-starter trio (happ/kendrick/eaton), and all non-myers starters have thrown clunkers in one of their last two starts.
also, if the cubs throttle the brewers this week, they will have little incentive to play all-out against the mets.
regardless of the official odds, i think the chance of the phils taking the east is 50/50. their wildcard odds look great on paper, but that turns around fast if houston pulls into a tie over the next two games, `cause the stros have a ridiculously easy last 9.
whoops. i somehow missed one of their losses.
nevermind. given that gap, and given that the cubs are going to absolutely throttle the brew crew, the playoffs really are a lock, and the only reason not to be in is expecting to be matched up with the cubs in the playoffs and getting killed.
