one guy at work loves his Pen, another guy loves his Fujifilm, and they both seem like decent to good photogs. I'd say I probably can't go wrong with either, but I'm leaning Fujifilm. apparently the images are better, larger format. the plus side to the Pen over the FujiFilm is you can change lenses. gonna trade my old Nikon d90 in. Hopefully I can get something, anything for it.

oddly enough this guy uses both cameras.

he's kinda got a good style that's kinda derivative of Alex Webb.

$1000 or so is a lot of money for a one-trick pony. I would lean Olympus.

yeah, fun use of studio lighting on a lot of his family pics. I kinda suspect the street shots are staged too but as long as their cool, I'm cool.

cleaning out my mom's basement I found a quart bottle still full with either Dektol or Microdol-X. Couldn't tell with a sniff test after ~35 years. And now I'm surprised to find that they're still making Dektol, although Microdol-X seems to have been discontinued.

I do not shoot as much as I used to, this was my last event. Looking forward to shooting more as I recover from heart surgery.

Let's see anyone top that.

I use a Nikon D 90 nowadays, and before that an F3 since my minolta 201 got replaced in 1985.

Cool pic, RP. I was planning to wait up to see the moon last night but I just couldn't make it.

I am finally going to jump into the dSLR market. I am not looking to go too crazy $$$-wise so have narrowed my search to the Nikon d5600 and the Canon T7i. Anybody use either of these? I am leaning slightly toward the Canon as I expect to use this for sports video a good deal of the time but am very much on the fence (especially since the Canon is $100+ more). Not sure the difference in video quality is worth the extra $$$. May rather spend that cash on a zoom lens.

All DSLRs still offer split-prism manual focus so far as I know, though I'm not sure about any manual focus aid. Presumably they all can do live view now so you could do manual focus with that instead of the split prism.

What is wrong with a D90?

ONE pro used to shoot with a Kodak instamatic.

Check out my page on Flickr

Joseph Olimpio Boggi

It's the photographer, not the camera.

AND as far as cameras go the D90 is excellent.

Shooting a wedding with Fujifilm is the way to go.

Maybe I'm not using the right term. The image below depicts what I mean. My t2i has nothing like it.

No, that's what I thought you meant. My experience with DSLRs is limited; I've played with my dad's which are medium-range Nikons and they all had split prisms for manual focus. Perhaps cheaper DLSRs omit it to reduce cost, meaning that to manual focus you would have to use live view -- use the screen on the back to check focus.
