This post is to inform you that BackSheGoes will permanently retire on November 1st, 2020. The burden of running this forum has become too great for us to handle any longer.

It is not possible for us to hand the reigns of BackSheGoes over to a new site admin, as the hosting is mixed with other interests. The amount of work required to even attempt a migration to another hosting provider is more than we can take on, due to the size of the database and upgrades required.
This decision is years in the making. We decided it was only fair to keep going until the end of the season.

We are providing this much notice in the hope that everyone will have time to exchange contact information and/or set up an alternative forum. That said, ignorant behavior may easily result in the aftermath of this post. If that occurs, we will shut the board down immediately.

There is no competition here – we would love to see someone do what we did and start something new! We are happy to sticky posts that link to alternatives.

There are literally too many people to thank for BSG’s successes over the years – so many it is impossible to list everyone without leaving someone out – you know who you are: thanks for everything!

I know you understandably said you don't have the cycles to do a migration, but- pardon my naivete' here- is it possible to create a database backup or something like that and hand over to someone else to try to resurrect elsewhere? How big is the DB- are we talking gigabytes? Terabytes?

I subscribed to the subreddit, but I’d love if someone could pick up the ball and run with a similar style message board.

I've started looking at hosting and just started installing phpBB on my dev server to mess around with. Would probably need a few people to help and get some funds together.

It looks like it would be about $250 to get a 3 year hosting plan. Closer to $280 with extra security.

I'd chip in. A Discord Server is also a good short term plan.
