Idk, he's been running for six years and in all that time he has evidently done nothing to ingratiate himself to anyone who could help in this moment among the Democratic establishment, maybe for starters by just trading his precious sense of principle enough to join the Democratic party; he also did nothing or next to nothing to use his considerable base to get any allies elected who could be helping him now (some progressives got elected in 2018 of course, but no thanks to Sanders); and as others have pointed out, he has arguably therefore lost ground over 2016. This might be in part because Biden > Hillary, but regardless it surely does not augur well for his chances going forward in this primary.

Elizabeth Warren did him no favors, to be sure, and I was really pulling hard for a Sanders win, but he's really got no legit path now. Next Tuesday he will lose Missouri and Mississippi, and if he loses Michigan it's really, really over.

Sanders spent about $16 million in Super Tuesday states through Feb. 27. Bloomberg spent a quarter of a billion dollars, while Biden had spent only about $625,000.

I felt the same way at first reading the headline, and the Bloomberg part remains true no matter what, but a couple thoughts dampen the effect for me.

This a little bit like saying it's nice to know there's a difference between the mega rich and the ultra mega rich, or the 1% and the 0.1%.
For Biden, we should probably add in the spending of Buttigieg and Klobuchar to see the real spending efforts of the votes he ultimately received.

Fair point on others spending. Still think that keeps Biden a distant third. I tried to imagine their supporters reactions when still seeing their ads but never came to a conclusion. It does appear that some combination of ideology and endorsement sent the votes to Biden.

I mostly agree except this race has not been kind to the front-runner. I think Bernie's Nevada victory mobilized some of SC and last night. While unlikely I could see Biden's Super Tuesday finally mobilizing the voters Bernie has promised.

Well I hope that comes true... but it would be a miracle.

How do the upcoming states look for Sanders? Favorable calendar or no?

I also agree this is not over yet. If Warren gets out and teams up with Bernie they will be formidable. And Biden is going to get destroyed in the next debate, especially if it's one on one.

I don't think debates matter that much anymore. I am not sure any Biden backers are going to move over to Sanders if they already haven't based even if he gets destroyed or has another senior moment.

I respectfully disagree. If Bloomberg never stepped on the debate stage (which he didn't have to) he would be the frontrunner for the nomination today and Biden would be done.

I don't think Bloomberg had a chance, the debates didn't help but I don't see why he would have been the frontrunner even without them.

I saw something like 7 million people watched the debates on average, I am not sure that alone is what sunk Bloomberg. Maybe a few million streamed it. Many people probably watched part of the debates.

Many people that tune into the debates are already highly informed voters and they aren't likely to be swayed by a debate.

All the healthcare stocks making huge jumps due to Biden’s big night. Good to see America continuing to work the way it’s supposed to

You get the feeling Republicans can live with Biden or Trump winning, if it was Sanders they would view it as a disaster.

I was reading Biden’s HC policy on his website last night after he had such a strong showing. I’m inspired to look into moving to Canada.

Good thing Trump has such a strong belief in universal healthcare!

Plus the exposure value of being Vice President for eight years - including the memes.
